CHAPTER 13: HUNGER

Kyle's POV
" Ok, kids! enjoy the ice cream that i have made for you. Now, i had to do gardening outside." She said before she left. Now, HUNK can put off his raccoon costume before eating her handmade ice cream.
" Ok, you can put off your costume."
" Phew, this costume makes me sweat!"
" Sorry, HUNK..." I felt pity for him.
" Nah, don't worry kiddo. It's not too hot like an oven at least. I will wear it whenever i want and when nobody's here." He said before eating.
" Hey, HUNK. How was my mother's homemade ice cream?"
" Mm, much more tasty than Liam's bought."

Four of us laughed. He knows how to make a joke. He finished consuming the ice cream. Damn, the bowl looks clear! He wanted some more but not the ice cream.

" Hey, Zou. Do you have any sweets besides this ice cream?"
" Uh yeah, sure. I have chocolate chip cookies too, in a jar."
" Where?"
" Over there, it was placed in the upper cabinet kitchen."

HUNK then gets up and approaches the upper cabinet where Zou pointed at. Without feeling shame, he opened it and took out the jar. He then takes a bite of the cookie.

" Mm, so tasty. Your mom knows how to make dessert."
" Yeah for sure Mr HUNK but save it for some before my mother accused me that I'm stealing!"
" Yeah whatever you said. Hey, Zou..."
" Y..yes..?"
" Do you have... steak? Beef steak.."

I could see that Zou and Don drop their jaw to hear what HUNK is saying, they were speechless.

" Oh sorry i... well, do you have homemade ice cream? I was starve..."
" Sure, sure! It's...in the fridge."
" Guys...i had to explain something to you both. Let's get to your room, Zou." I asked them in whisper and they both nodded. We went upstairs, left HUNK behind enjoying the ice cream. After that, we were already in Zou's room. Zou and Don were horrified by him.
" Kyle, what's wrong with HUNK? He scares me!"
" Yeah! After we heard what he was saying, i suddenly thought in my brain. Mr HUNK is a human, and is human...a prey or predator!?"
" Guys, listen. I know you guys might not believe me but he's neither prey, nor predator."
" Huh? Then what?" Zou asked.
" He's..an omnivore. Humans are omnivores."
" What? What was that " omnivore mean?" This is the first time we hear about it!" Don said with bewildered.
" Not gonna lie, guys. He even told me about himself. I don't know how to explain what omnivores are but it's simple to say. Omnivore is...an organism that eats both meat and plants. You can see that he just ate ice cream, now he has to search for the flesh.."
" Hm, that sounds odd but true. In Zootopia, there's only prey and predators that get along. And there's no omnivore!" Zou said.
" I know it sounds crazy, right? But how can we change his nature? He's a human. Both eat meat and plants. That's his destiny."
" But, Kyle...he somehow scares me.. what if.." Don said with tremble.
" If what, Don?" I asked him.
" What if...he's gonna EAT US!?"
" nah! Don't worry or say like that, Don. HUNK is ours and my friend. We shouldn't judge him just because he has a predator side besides the prey."
" But you don't understand, Kyle. Remember? He's a human that came out of nowhere and he seems to be lost, among the mammal animals like us. what if he is not familiar with this place? And what if-"
" Enough, i don't want you guys to think bad about him. At least, Zootopia has fish meat too! Yesterday, he ate my brother's cooking. Mash potato with fish meat! And he likes it."
" But what if...he changes his human nature to something feral!?"
" Don, please... just trust my friend. He might be a stranger but just because he's unknown, it doesn't mean we can judge him but understand more about him. I'm a predator too but you guys trust me like a real friend. So, please trust him, like how you trust me.."
" Oh heck... you are right. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to hate him or whatever it is but..I'm just worried about the risk of our lives.."
" It's ok, Don. But it doesn't matter what would happen, please don't judge him bad. He's our human friend.." Zou said with understanding.
" Yes, at least he is unlike Bellwether."
