Meadow's pov.

Julissa finally pulled into the school's driveway. Today I was actually early with a couple of minutes to spare. This is rare for me but I needed to get away from my uncle immediately. I can't stand anything about him.

We exited Julissa's car, walked into the school, and swiped our IDs. We were on our way to the cafeteria but I held her wrist and stopped her in her tracks. She looked at me confused but I didn't say a word.

I started pulling her to the bathroom by her wrist. "What the fuck are you doing meds?" she said confused but calmly. Once we were in the bathroom I pushed my hair behind my ears and pointed to the bruise on my cheek. "Look." I said annoyed and slightly widened my eyes a bit to add emphasis on my word. I was also still in pain since the pills were wearing off. "Holy shit Meadow... who did that to you? She said with concern and pity in her voice. "Guess." I said sternly with a straight face. By her face, I could already tell she knew what I meant by guess.

I've told Julissa about the abuse before and she's offered to get me help but I've refused every single time. Not because I wanted to protect my bastard uncle's freedom, but because I wanted to protect my freedom.

She pulled me aside by my hand and sat me down on the window ledge, she pulled out her makeup bag because she already knew the drill and started getting to work.

Victoria's pov.

Last night at Meadow's house was odd. I seriously can't believe I was feeling certain feelings for Meadow I shouldn't be feeling. Maybe it's only because I was tired. Yeah, that's it I was just really tired! I had thought while lying on my bed.

I slowly snapped out of it and went to my bathroom to brush my teeth, wash my face, and change my clothes. I changed into a hoodie, leggings, and my white Air forces. I should probably wear something under my hoodie because I may be hot later but I don't care.

I made my way downstairs and I saw my mom eating a fruit bowl on the kitchen island and I heard my dad in my living room on a business phone call. "Hey mom." I said. "Good morning hun." she responded. I made my way to the living room and kissed my dad on the cheek- he hugged me back since he wasn't able to verbally respond.

I checked my phone and it was 7 am. I should probably start making my way to school now. I made my way back into the kitchen, grabbed an energy drink, kissed my mom goodbye, and started walking into the living room again to say goodbye to my dad. After that I grabbed my bag, keys, and went into my garage. I put my car in reverse and drove off.

Once I had gotten to school I really needed to pee. I don't know why I didn't just use it at school. I quickly locked my car and ran inside the building. I swiped my ID and sprinted to the bathroom. I had barged in there and that's where I saw Meadow and her friend. They were sitting on the windows ledge.

Meadow's friend's leg was on top of one of Meadow's legs. They were also very close to each other. They looked very couple-like. This bothered me- why did this bother me...? We were all staring at each other for a good minute until I realized why I barged in here in the first place. I broke eye contact with them and went into a stall to pee.

Once I had finished I walked out of the stall and looked to my right- they were still there, close as ever just talking. Once I stepped out of the stall Meadow glanced over at me for a split second before she went back to her conversation. I washed my hands and quickly got out of there. I started heading to my first-period class while simultaneously looking for Rae and Lyric. 3rd period I had Ms.Flores I would have to see Meadow. Hopefully, she skips to go do some drugs or something...

Meadow's pov.

Lissa finally finished my makeup and we sat there talking for a while.

I saw Victoria before heading to first period. I hate to admit it but she looked so good. Like hot...Like I just wanna fuck her type of hot. But I need to stomp this avalanche of nasty thoughts since I hate her as a person and even if I did like her as a person I'm pretty sure she's 200% straight. It's a shame she's so attractive while being a straight-up bitch.

After a while the bell rang and it 3rd period. I hate this class so much- not so much the class itself but Ms.Flores in general. I'm passing all my classes with decent grades (B's-C's) but Ms.Flores just hates me so I have a D in this class.

I walked into the class and sat in my usual spot in the back. Victoria walked into the class and sat down beside me. We glanced at each other every once in a while but nothing major. After a couple of minutes passed and everyone got situated, Ms.Flores told us our game plan for today. Once she was done talking she sent us off into our groups to work on our project. Victoria suddenly got up and pushed her desk closer to mine. She took out her laptop and started typing. Not a word came to of her. Not a peep. It was oddly tense- not necessarily awkward but tense. I vaguely remember her coming over last night. Did I do something wrong I don't remember.?

"Hey." I said. She stopped typing and glanced over at me quickly before starting to type again and responding with "Hey.?" in a confused stuck-up tone. Like I wasn't supposed to talk to her. Maybe if I shoved a couple of fingers inside her instead she'd fix that shitty attitude of hers. This bitch was so stuck up so I didn't bother dragging out the "conversation" any longer.

About 30 minutes had passed and she was still dead silent. I didn't like the tense environment the silence created so I said "Can I at least help with OUR project?" I said with attitude. "Now you wanna help out? After I've done like 20% of the work already... you know what, at this point go ahead." she said giving me the same energy back and rolling her eyes in annoyance. She handed me her laptop and while taking it from her our hands touched. She was so warm- this gave me butterflies but I ignored it.

I started typing and actually doing well on the project. I felt Victoria's eyes piercing through my soul since she was staring so intently. "See I'm not only good at doing drugs." I said grinning proud of my work. She slightly grinned back at me in annoyance. She knew I was right.

I turned my full body toward her and we stared at each other for a minute before she said "So you gonna give me my laptop back or what..?" She looked a bit flustered. "Oh yeah, my fault." I said. I hope she hadn't noticed the red creeping onto my face. The bell interrupted our moment and Victoria said "Can I come over today so we can knock out a good chunk of this project?". Shit...I don't want her at my house today because of my uncle. I have to find an excuse.

"Oh I can't do my house today, my fault maybe another day?". She looked deep in thought for a second and sighing a dramatic sigh before saying "Ok come over to mine. I'll send you the address." I took this moment to playfully flirt. "You want me to come over? What you tryna do?" I said flirtatiously grinning. I saw a very subtle smile creep up onto her face- she almost even laughed. "Shut up Meadow." it sounded seducing in a way. Was she flirting with me?

I stood up and she started looking up at me. I started staring straight back down. This position made me think she wasn't truly straight. She'd broken eye contact because she realized we were almost late for class. When she walked out of the class I couldn't help but study her curves. Fuck she looked good. Her parents took their time making her for sure. I can't wait to go to her house later. Maybe I'd flirt with her to see if she'd match the energy or not. But only for fun. I could never like Victoria Prescott.
