Praxis and Davian were having a stare-down. Neither of them broke the uncomfortable eye contact. Praxis refused to give in to his brother's intimidation. Praxis felt anger at Davian's audacity to show up at his condo.

"What are you doing here?" Praxis hissed.

Davian just smirked, "Can I not visit my little brother's new place? Especially when he so suddenly moved out."

"That isn't your business. You can leave now." Praxis snapped.

Davian chuckled, "So what possessed you to shut down a whole hospital in the name of our sister?"

"What? Are you mad about it or something?" Praxis raised an eyebrow. He was more than frustrated that his eldest brother was here. He was the one who sent her away without seeming to care. Praxis felt that Davian didn't have the right to question him about getting his little sister out when she was in hell and was shoved under the rug by her family.

"More curious. Although I am not pleased that you didn't consult with me first." Davian said with a sense of boredom.

Praxis laughed bitterly. "What? It's not like you would care enough to get her released. She was only supposed to be there for six months. You left her there for two and a half years."

"The doctors kept saying she was getting worse. I just won't have her released when she isn't stable." Davian explained.

"Are you fucking serious? You never thought of visiting her and checking on her. They were abusing her Davian! It's not a mystery as to why she was getting worse." Praxis yelled, throwing his hands in the air.

"Remember who you are talking to, brother," Davian warned. "How was I supposed to know?"

"You never cared to check. I picked up on it as soon as I went to the hospital." Praxis scoffed.

"Doesn't matter anymore. I got her custody." Davian shrugged.

Praxis's eyes widened in shock. "What? No, you don't. I got custody."

"Oh brother, you know how easily I can change that." Davian grinned.

Praxis winced because he knew that Davian could always get what he wanted in terms of the court system.

"Davian, you can't do this to her. She cannot be around the others, especially Riven. I wouldn't put it past him that he would try to kill her. She will have a breakdown if you make her go back to the house." Praxis begged.

Davian rolled his eyes. "Riven won't dare touch her. He knows better than to go against me."

"You don't know that. You know how bad his anger can get." Praxis protested.

"Enough," Davian said standing up. "Pack her stuff we are leaving."

"No," Praxis said.

"You don't have a choice, little brother. I won't say it again." Davian warned.

"Or what?" Praxis challenged. "Will you have me arrested?"

Davian sighed and ran a hand down his face. "CPS will get involved if she isn't with me."

"I thought you could easily change that."

"Praxis!" Davian yelled. "Enough!"

The sound of Davian's yelling made Verena wake up with a jolt. She looked around her room to see if the grey figure that haunts her was in her room again. When she didn't see him, she walked to her door and pressed her ear against it.

When she heard the voice of her eldest brother, she froze and felt her heart stop. She felt scared. Was Praxis handing her over to him? Was he pretending the whole time? Was Davian getting her to surrender her to Riven so he could kill her and avenge his friend?

Verena locked the door and, slammed herself onto the floor and crawled under her bed. She couldn't stop the tremors of her body. She didn't want to go back to them. Why now?

You're finally going to get what you deserve. The voice whispered in her ear.

Verena's eyes burned with tears. She wasn't sure if she wanted to die. She was always suffering, but she at least wanted her death to be quick if she was going to die. Riven would drag it out.

Why are you scared? Monsters don't deserve to live. You can always do it now before they get you.

Verena was pondering the idea in her head when she heard someone trying to open the door. She heard the yelling of Davian and Praxis.

"Why is the damn door locked?" Davian growled impatiently.

"She's scared! Davian, stop!" Praxis yelled back.

"Get off me, Praxis!" Davian yelled.

Verena held back a scream when the door burst open. She saw two pairs of feet enter her room. She held her breath and closed her eyes tightly.

"Where the hell is she?" Davian hissed.

When Praxis didn't say anything she saw the feet move around as they looked for her. Verena did scream when she saw the face of her eldest brother looked at her peeking under the bed.

Im so sorry I haven't updated this in a while. I have been focused on other stories and grad school is a lot. I also wasn't liking how this story was going so I deleted a few chapters and will be rewriting them.
