Ruin was busy admiring Homura when he saw something move in the corner of his eye and looked in that direction to confirm its origin. However Ruin heart pounced in his heart as he stood frozen in terror as he saw what it was, a goblin bearing down on him with murderous intent.
The creature was small, its skin a sickly green, and its eyes glinted with malice. It moved with a predator's stealth, inching ever closer to Ruin. His first instinct was to call out to Homura. "No,I can't keep on relying on her to fix my problems if I ever want to become stronger,I can do this myself."He resolved internally.
With trembling hands, Ruin rifled through Homura's bag, his fingers closing around the cool metal of a throwing dagger. It was a simple weapon, unadorned and deadly. He squared his shoulders, facing the goblin that now stood mere feet away. Fear clawed at his insides, but he pushed it down, focusing on the creature's single, bulbous eye.
With a cry that was half terror, half defiance, Ruin hurled the dagger. It spun through the air, a silver flash, and struck its target. The goblin's sneer turned to a grimace of pain as dark blood welled from its wounded eye. Ruin's heart soared with triumph, but the joy was soon cut short as the goblin, with a snarl of rage, plucked the dagger from its flesh and charged at him.
Panic seized Ruin. His victory turned to ash, his joy to dread. He cursed as he threw all his pride and dignity away as he started shouting and screaming frantically for Homura his voice breaking with fear. The goblin leaped, its claws outstretched, but before it could land its killing blow, it erupted into flames. The creature's scream was cut short as it crumbled to ash, leaving only the scent of charred flesh in the air.
Homura stood there, her laughter ringing clear."You know you really scream like a little girl,"She teased Ruin, "serioulsy weakling, you couldn't even handle the weakest of the beasts," she continued mocking him for his inability to handle even the weakest of foes. But her teases were cut short as the monsters, sensing an opportunity caused by the distraction, struck. They pounced on Homura, their claws and teeth landing on Homura relentlessly. Ruin's world spun as his relief changed back to fear, "Is she...?"
His thoughts spiraled, "No,Homura couldn't be dead, she was invincible." But as he turned to look at what was unfolding he was forced to come to that conclusion. With fear gripping his heart, he turned to flee but before he could make his first step,a sea of purple flames surged forth, engulfing the monsters in a purple inferno that left nothing but ashes. Homura emerged from the inferno, her eyes alight with the fire of her skill, Flame Festival.
"I cant believe i was forced to use that skill on such weak creatures,"she said with a tone of distate in her words and a face full of displeasure. She then glanced at the hourglass and noticed the sand had run out ,she then looked expectantly at the openings on the walls and noticed all of them had closed up leading to the long awaited end to the endless tide of monsters . A smile played on Homura's lips as she unleashed her fury upon the remaining beasts. Each fell before her, until at last, silence reigned.
"I can't believe you killed them all!" Ruin told homura with a look of awe and admiration. "Of course your senior took care of the problem, she is after all the greatest,"Homura said enjoying the self praise. As she walked back towards ruin.
