I couldn't believe my eyes when he texted me that he got us tickets. I froze, staring at the screen. THE Taylor Swift concert? THE ERAS TOUR?! I kicked. my legs in the air, practically squealing with excitement. The person who "hates" Taylor Swift had booked us tickets! I had to ask him what was up.

On text:

Me: Okay, I need details-where, when, how? And wait, how come you're so into Taylor Swift all of a sudden? I thought you didn't like her songs?

Sameer: This might take all night. Guess I'm saying goodbye to my sleep.

Typical Sameer! The teasing was driving me nuts, and I needed him to just spill it.

Me: Hey! I don't care. Spill everything. Now!

Sameer: Alright, alright, hold on. Let's go question by question, yeah?

Me: Ugh, Sameer Kalra! I'm gonna come over and hit you so hard if you don't quit it with the teasing!

Sameer: 😂😂

Me: Ahhh, plsss😩

Sameer: Okay😂. First, it's in the United States of America. Second, it's on December 3rd, and it's just the two of us.

Me: Wow!!!😭 Exactly where in the U.S.?

Sameer: Indianapolis, the capital of Indiana.

Me: Oh my god! Sameer Kalra, thank you so much! You're the best! I love you!🤧❤️

Sameer: Ummm...

My heart sank. Why did I write that? Oh, god, I shouldn't have texted that! I scrambled to fix it.

Me: Uh, you know what I mean.

Sameer: Yeah, yeah, I get it.

The awkwardness crept in as I tried to change the topic.

Me: Anyway... about that last question. Why Taylor Swift? Since when do you even like her?

Sameer: I love her. I love the songs, the lyrics, the way she sings. Everything.

Me: Since when? Like you literally hated her.

Sameer: Because you love her. You used to listen to her all the time as a kid, and back then, I really liked you. I wanted us to have something more in common. I wanted you to vibe with those songs with me, just like we did when watching cricket together. I wanted you to like me back so badly that I was willing to do anything to make that happen. So, naturally, I grew to like her and her songs

Me: Oh... um, yeah, well, thanks again. I should go down for dinner. Talk later?

I ended the conversation quickly, feeling my cheeks flush. Why did he have to spill all of that? Why couldn't he just say he liked her music now? Ugh, I shouldn't have asked. Now, I felt awkward and nervous as hell. Our conversation ended so strangely that I just wanted to avoid talking altogether. I was afraid I'd say something totally random or weird, so it was better not to engage.
