Daniella's P.O.V
"Yes Mom. I made it safe. I'm in Salem now. I'm arriving at the apartment now with the U-Haul. I just parked," I say, answering my nervous mother over the phone as I put the U-Haul in park. "Ok, you know I worry about my baby. And you are my only baby. This is the furthest you've ever been away from me," She says. "I know, Mama. But it's going to be good. You know I always wanted to come back. And I know my way like the back of my hand it will be ok. I'm going to let you go so I can unload the truck and return it. I will let you know when I am back," I say. "Ok. Please remember to stop so you can't eat and stay hydrated," She says. "I know, Mama. I will. I love you," I say. "I love you too, baby. Be safe," She says. "I will," I say. "Ok," She says. "Bye," I say. "Bye, Baby," She says. I hung up. I know if I didn't she never would. I know this is hard on my mother but my plan was always to go to Salem State. I was going to major in writing. I'm already accepted, and that's what I'm going to be doing. That's what Xavier and I's plan was before we had to move anyway. 'I wonder if he still lives in the area...Probably not. He probably traveled for college. Plans change all the time, right?'
I go to the lobby and walk up to the desk to talk to the receptionist. "Hi, my name is Daniella Stone, I signed a lease and I'm here to pick up my key and start moving in," I say. "Hi, Daniella, we spoke on the phone, I'm Lisa. I have your key right here. You are going to be apartment sixty five on the sixth floor. I'd suggest using the cart and taking the elevator if you have a lot of heavy things. Here is your folder, it's a copy of the lease along with any info you might need. If you have any questions, the desk number is right there and one of us will be able to help you," Lisa says, handing me my key and a folder. "Thank you so much," I say. I grab one of the trolley's and bring it out to the truck to start filling it. I don't have much, nothing really heavy but this will help me empty the truck much faster so I can return it to the truck depot.
After about an hour I finish bringing everything into the apartment and I lock it up before bringing the trolley back to where it goes in the lobby and going to bring the truck back to the truck depot. I drop the truck off and realize I need to go to a dealership. I have a car budget as I knew I needed to get a car once I arrived. Thankfully it's still early in the day so I can get the process going. I walk down the road as it's not far and there is the dealership my parents used to rave about that I knew was trustworthy.
Arriving Back At The Apartment Complex
I arrive back at my apartment and get in the elevator. I press the button for the 6th floor and the doors start to close. Before the doors close a hand stops them, opening the doors back up and in comes a six foot four man with shaggy black hair, tan skin, and a very nice, toned, body. 'I hope he lives here...Stop it, Dani! It's not like you'd know what to do even if you had the chance.' "Oh, you're on the 6th floor too. That's cool, saves me a button push," He says with a friendly chuckle. "Yup, that's me. Here to push the buttons," I say. 'Here to push the buttons?! Oh my god. Just stop talking and save yourself the embarrassment already!' "I'm sure that's not true. Although, I've never seen you before. Are you new?" He asks, turning around looking at me. 'No..it can't be...he's shorter....was..was shorter..' "Xavier?" I ask. "Uh..yeah..how do you know my name?" He asks. 'Makes sense. I went through a major fucking glow up.' "It's me..Dani," I say. His jaw drops and the elevator door opens.
