"Bye sweetie, and try to enjoy yourselves this week. I didn't ask your aunt Bridgette to clear out the cottage for us for nothing. Now remember, be safe no matter what and no horseplay - I mean you Jack- remember to always wear your life jackets, carry a bear horn if you're going for a walk, keep the cottage clean... blah blah blah blah blah"

Gosh my mother always got like this, no matter where we were or what the situation was, she always got over stressed and became a helicopter parent. But recently it's gotten worse. I mean I can see why she's so worried. My dad got in a car accident while driving with my mom for a stroll. Luckily, my mom was fine. My dad? Not so much. I barely knew the guy, ever since the accident he was a wreck and our lives at home were like a living hell. He died when I was 9. Ever since then, my mom's been like this. She wanted me to take the week off and relive stress, if anything it's her who should be taking the vacation but whatever.

I had no clue what my mom was saying, my brain was constantly wondering off to la la land. I had one ear listening to my mom continue to rant on about safety and rules, and the other listening to Jack whisper dirty jokes in my ear, he was always the worst for getting me distracted.

"Yes mom, I know. Don't worry Jack will keep me in line, right Jack?"

"Oh yes, Ms. Pierce you've got absolutely nothing to worry about!!"

Jack was so cute with my mom. We've been dating for a year and she's absolutely loved him since day one, as so have I. We met in junior kindergarten (ik ik super cliché) and we've been inseparable ever since.

He was a part of the family. Of course when I told my mom we started dating she was super happy for me (and squealed really loud as we did our happy dance together) and then went straight to call him and ask why he didn't ask her for her permission yet. Then of course Jack had to come right over with flowers for the both of us, and a card for my mom asking for her permission to date her daughter.

They were so cute and I had everything I could possibly ask for right now. Except of course my favourite perfume, which I realized I forgot as soon as we left and got in the car.
