The following morning, Peter awoke to the soft, early morning light spilling into their bedroom. MJ was still asleep beside him, her hair tousled and her breathing even. For a moment, he simply lay there, watching her, marveling at how lucky he felt to share these quiet moments with her.
A little later, MJ stirred awake, squinting as she blinked up at him. "How long have you been staring at me, Mr. Stark?" she murmured with a sleepy grin.
"Only long enough to realize how stunning you look in the morning," Peter replied, reaching over to brush a strand of hair from her face.
She laughed softly and nudged his shoulder. “You’re such a dork.”
They eventually made their way to the kitchen, where Peter insisted on cooking breakfast. As he flipped pancakes, MJ leaned against the counter, arms folded, watching him with a soft smile.
“You know, it’s moments like these that make it all worth it,” Peter said, glancing over his shoulder.
MJ’s expression softened as she walked over to him, wrapping her arms around his waist. “Same here, Mr. Stark. There’s nowhere else I’d rather be.”
They spent the morning together, talking about little things, sharing laughs and comfortable silences. The world outside could wait; for now, it was just them.
Later, as they cleaned up, Peter held MJ close, looking at her with that familiar warmth in his eyes. “Thank you, Mrs. Stark, for always being by my side. I don’t know what I’d do without you.”
MJ leaned up, pressing a kiss to his cheek. “Well, it’s a good thing you’ll never have to find out, isn’t it?”
In that moment, Peter knew that whatever challenges lay ahead, he’d face them with her. They were a team, in every way that mattered, and he wouldn’t have it any other way.
After breakfast, Peter and MJ settled on the couch, the city skyline visible through the window. With a cup of coffee in hand, Peter pulled out his laptop, ready to catch up on some work. He had a few emails to respond to and reports to review, but he found it hard to concentrate with MJ sitting beside him, her presence calming yet electrifying.
“What’s on your agenda today?” MJ asked, her eyes glinting with mischief as she watched him attempt to focus.
“Just the usual: some reports, maybe a meeting with dad later about the next Stark Industries project,” Peter replied, his fingers hovering over the keyboard.
“Sounds riveting,” she teased, rolling her eyes dramatically. “You’d think being the son of a billionaire and a superhero would be more exciting.”
Peter chuckled. “Believe me, I have my moments. Like yesterday, when I almost had to save a cat stuck in a tree—again.”
MJ laughed, the sound brightening the room. “You should have recorded that for posterity. ‘Peter Stark, the hero of felines everywhere.’”
“Or ‘the guy who saves cats while wearing designer suits,’” he added, grinning. “I could be the face of a new charity: ‘Suits for Strays.’”
She snickered, nudging him playfully. “I think you’d be the perfect spokesperson, honestly.”
“Okay, now you’re just flattering me,” Peter said, pretending to be modest.
“Flattery is my secret weapon, Mr. Stark,” MJ replied, leaning in closer. “You might want to watch out for it.”
Before he could respond, MJ’s phone buzzed, interrupting their light banter. She grabbed it, reading the message quickly. “It’s Harley. He wants to meet at the lab for a quick test of his latest invention.”
