The day agin went smoothly. I tried to smile. I tried to look past the bland part of the world. The only problem is that I didn't. Practice time came around and I put on a dark gray spaghetti strap top and knee-high leggings. My mom brought me to practice today, saying something about my car's oil being changed or whatever. I walked into the studio and I stretched my legs and arms. Mrs. Adams stood in the middle of the room again.

"Today we will be working on dancing with the music. You all must've finished going over the moves yesterday," she says eying certain students carefully. "Go to you partner and begin dancing in the rooms designated for you. I will be supervising, so get to work. I'll come in when you least expect. Shoo now," she explains swatting the air like we're flies. I meet up with Curtis and I grab his arm, guiding him to the practice room we were in on Tuesday. I pressed play on the stereo system in the back and the piano music played and I twirled around. Curtis lifted me into the air. He stumbled a few times and so did I. We are working on the part where I jump and he lifts me in the air and leaps. He leaps gracefully but loses his footing and we both end up on the floor. I yelp as we fall. I'm on top of him and heat rushes to my face. I know he knows what just happened.

"Sorry. I should've landed that more confidently..." He says looking up by my face.

"No. It's ok..." I put a hand on his chest and get off him. "I think we both need more work on that part..." I frown, embarrassed.

"Yeah," he says chuckling and getting up. It feels so awkward now. I know I'm blushing again.

"Are you sure you're ok?" I ask.

"I'm fine, just a bit... Flustered." He chuckles a bit. "Fate and gravity. I hate you two for the awkwardness!" He raises a fist into the air. I feel my mouth opening to show my teeth. I'm- I'm... Smiling! It feels good! I laugh and Curtis looks at me and smiles even harder. "Susan!!!" He runs to the sound of my laughter and hugs me tight.

I stop laughing and frown again, hugging back. "How do you stay like this all the time?"

"Good sense of humor?" He laughs, but I don't. I don't know why, but I feel my eyes getting watery. He must sense it too, because he hugs me closer. This is when I start to cry. The warm tears roll down my cheeks. "What's wrong?"

"I don't know. I just don't feel... Happy. I tried like you said, but I can't find anything to love. Everything seems lifeless!" I sob.

"You- you can... You can love me..." Curtis says a bit shaky.

I hug him more. "Thanks Curtis."

"Can I ask you a question? It might be too much, but... Will you describe me?" He inquires. Then I realize that he's never seen his appearance before. I nod at him.

"You have dirty blonde hair with brown highlights. Your muscles are..." I stop, embraced, "really nice..., your super handsome, and great to talk to." I say letting go of the hug.

"Thank you, but I was hoping for the actual description..." He says, and frowns a little. I look into his eyes. They aren't grey. I feel like they're a color! They're blue! I remember! It's the color of the ocean and it's so deep and beautiful. I can't really describe it, but I love it! I smile at his eyes and they flash back to grey. It still was amazing and I couldn't believe what just happened. How could I have seen color again in the first time since I was nine?

"Your eyes are blue. I just saw them. I don't know how, but they are deep and beautiful. Your smile is wonderous and gives me goosebumps in a good way. Your arms are strong and powerful, but gentle and kind at the same time. I can hear your kind-hearted voice from far away and I hear your heart beat with compassion and know you care about everything important. You are amazing," I say. This was surprising, because I was smiling. Curtis was leaning in close to me and I could feel his hand on my waist. His head turned to the side, about to kiss me. I leaned in as well and closed my eyes. Just then, I heard footsteps.

"This is a ballet studio you two, not a bedroom," the angry voice of Mrs. Adams rang through the room and I turned red.

I took a step back form Curtis, who faced her voice. "Sorry ma'am. I didn't mean to get carried away."

"I know. Practice is over. I will see the tow of you perform your routine for me tomorrow, kapiesh?" She confirms.

"Ok," I reply, handing Curtis is walker and walk with him out the back door, away from Mrs. Adams. "Sorry for that..."

"No. I started it. Now that we're alone..." He starts, his face I can tell is heating up.

"I know," I say leaning in close to him. He does as well. My lips touch his and he gently kisses me. I kiss back and we pull out after a few seconds. He puts his hands on my hips.

"I'm sorry. I couldn't resist. I can tell you're beautiful."

"I've gotta go, but I'll see you tomorrow..." I say, running towards my car. My first kiss.
