In the heart of Aurodon, nestled within the opulent halls of the royal palace, Lewis Tremaine stood before a grand mirror, his reflection framed by the luxurious decor of the room. He adjusted his collar nervously, wondering for the millionth time if Lady Tremaine would approve of his appearance. Despite the wealth surrounding him, the walls felt like a cage at times, their gilded edges suffocating him.

"Lewis!" Lady Tremaine's voice echoed from the hallway, sharp and commanding. The sound pulled him from his thoughts. "Are you ready? We have an important engagement."

"Yes, Mother," he replied, forcing a smile as he stepped out into the hallway. Lady Tremaine stood with her hands on her hips, her expression a blend of pride and expectation. Since adopting him, she had taken it upon herself to mold him into the perfect son—a reflection of her own aspirations.

"Remember, appearances matter," she said, her tone both rehearsed and urgent. "You must represent our family with dignity. You are a Tremaine, after all."

"I know," Lewis replied quietly, his heart heavy with the pressure that came with being her son. He loved Lady Tremaine, but her expectations often felt like a weight too great to bear. He couldn't shake the feeling that his worth was measured solely by his ability to fulfill her ambitions.

As they made their way to the palace courtyard, the bustling atmosphere of Aurodon filled the air. Merchants hawked their wares, and laughter echoed through the streets as children played. Lewis felt a momentary flicker of hope, but it quickly dimmed under the watchful gaze of Lady Tremaine.

"Remember, Lewis, you must not get distracted," she reminded him, glancing sideways with a calculated gaze. "This is your opportunity to make connections that will serve our family well."

"Mother, do you think I could—" he began, but she interrupted, her expression shifting into one of irritation.

"Lewis, not now. We must focus on the evening ahead. This is important for us."

As they stepped out into the courtyard, the vibrant energy of Aurodon pulsed just beyond the doors, a sea of colorful gowns and polished shoes moving gracefully amidst the grand decorations. Lewis felt his heart sink; he was a part of this world, yet he felt painfully out of place. Just as he was about to turn back to the safety of the palace, he spotted a familiar figure weaving through the crowd.

"Lewis! Over here!" Chloe Charming, the daughter of Cinderella, waved excitedly. Her blue hair shimmered in the sunlight, and her blue gown flowed around her like a gentle breeze. Chloe was a breath of fresh air, her warmth a stark contrast to the rigidity of his upbringing.

"Chloe!" Lewis exclaimed, momentarily grateful for her presence. He hurried over to her, eager to escape Lady Tremaine's watchful eye. "What are you doing here?"

"I came to see how you were doing," she said, her bright smile fading slightly. "I've been thinking about you. I heard about your parents... you deserve to know who they are."

The mention of his parents sent a pang of longing through him. "I've asked Lady Tremaine, but she won't tell me anything."

Chloe's expression softened, empathy shining in her eyes. "That's not fair. You deserve answers. I heard something interesting—there's a way to find out."

"What do you mean?" Lewis leaned closer, intrigue sparking in his chest.

"There's this legend about the Wishing Spell," Chloe whispered, glancing around to ensure no one else was listening. "It can grant any wish, and it's said that one of the items needed to cast it might reveal truths about your past."

Lewis's heart raced at the thought. "You mean it could help me find out who my parents are?"

"Exactly! You could wish for the truth!" Her enthusiasm was infectious, and for a moment, Lewis allowed himself to imagine what that might feel like. "But you have to be careful—it's powerful magic. You have to gather the items from different realms to make it work."
