CHAPTER ONE

I hate France. Okay, not really, truth-be-told, I LOVE France, but just not right now. 'Cause it's kind of annoying when your parents leave you, their only daughter, at some elite boarding school somewhere, so they can go to France (the country you LOVE) without you, so they can research information for their new book. It's also really annoying when they don't even tell you your going to said boarding school, until the day before you leave and you only have, like, 3 hours to tell your best friends (Sam [Her real name's Samantha but she prefers Sam] and Jenny) and your new boyfriend (that you've only been dating for, like, three days) goodbye.

So I guess you can say France is the reason my perfect life was completely messed up (or at least as close as my life can get to perfect was completely messed up). Because ever since I, Alex Green, was born, I swear, there is someone out there, some fates that decided my life would be one massive mess up after the other.

Like how when I was eight, my parents made me switch from being home schooled to public school (because they realized they had no idea how to teach anything to anyone, including me) I just happened to get sick the first day of school. My parents thought I was faking of course. They thought I didn't want to go to school, because I was unfamiliar with it and everything, so I was just playing. Trust me, I wasn't. Too bad my parents didn't figure that out until I threw up all over my first grade class. Yeah, trying making friends after THAT. They were calling me Throw Up Girl (Shortened to 'Tug' in Second Grade. Small minds can only stretch so far.) all the way until 7th grade, which by the way was the year I moved to the school I'm currently at... or used to be at.

Because now I was here, at some boarding school I had never heard of before, since my life just tended to be one mess up after another. Woo-hoo.

So there I was standing in front of some elite school, reviewing my past full of screw ups, and... "Whoa, wait a minute." I thought as I got my first good look at the school I would be living in for the next year, "What is with this school?"

See! I wasn't even inside yet and already something was weird. A red brick wall, with two wrought iron gates to let students in and out, surrounded the school but that wasn't the weird part. There was this HUGE wall that ran straight through the campus separating two sides that looked identical to each other.

I swear even the buildings were in the same place on the other side as the ones on the opposite side. What was the point in that? Never mind, I didn't have time for that, my classes started in... "TEN MINUTES!!!" I gasped checking my watch.

Did I mention my parents aren't exactly the smartest people in the world? First of all transferring me in the middle of the school year is not the best idea, but then turning down the offer to have someone tour me around the campus because they 'Didn't think I should be babied.' and that 'Other students shouldn't have to miss valuable class time to take me on a tour around campus.' Or my favorite 'We believe that or daughter needs to find her own way.'

Trust me mom and dad I love you guys to death but I won't know where on earth I'm finding my way to! Then their best idea yet; they wanted me to start classes the day I got there 'You'll make more friends if you jump straight into the curriculum.' My mom had said. Yup. I'll make loads of friends as I arrive to class an hour late because I couldn't even find it!

Gahhhhh! I have no time to worry about this! I grabbed my luggage, and pulled the oversized hoddie I was wearing closer to me. Man it was cold even for January.

I shivered again, and then walked forward and... slammed straight into another person. Another mess up on my part. Perfect.

"Sorry." I said. My voice came out hoarse and cracked because of the cold. I can't remember the name of where I used to live, but I do remember that it was warm. All the time. So I guess you could say I was in no way used to the cold.
