Chapter 1: Crossing

After Jun Hao led a team of seven special forces disguised as international mercenaries to complete the cross-border mission, they were ambushed by more than a hundred international mercenaries on their way back. After a night of fierce fighting, the eight people retreated to the tropical rain forest on the border.

The eight men ran in the tropical rainforest for a day and a night but could not get rid of the pursuers behind them. Now they are low on ammunition and have not rested for two days and nights. Their physical strength is exhausted and they are only supported by their tenacious will. They have only one goal in their minds, that is, as long as they run to the border and meet up with the support troops, they will be safe. They can only rely on themselves to fight abroad.

"Shan Zi, how far is it to the border?" Jun Hao asked while running. Talking did not affect his speed.

"There are still a hundred kilometers to go. Our superiors asked us to hold on for ten minutes. They said that the support troops disguised as international mercenaries have left the country and are heading in our direction." Shanzi replied. As long as they met up with the support troops and had sufficient ammunition, they would be able to get rid of the pursuers behind them or even destroy them.

Jun Hao listened to the footsteps getting closer and closer, and thought to himself: It's too late, the enemy is getting closer and closer to them.

"You guys retreat quickly, I'll cover you." Jun Hao said. At this critical moment, Jun Hao made a quick decision. During the mission, Jun Hao was calm and composed no matter what situation he encountered. Only in this way could he make the most correct decision in an unpredictable environment.

"Captain, we won't leave. We will stand with you." The seven team members said in unison. They all understood that if they stayed behind in this situation, there would be no chance of survival. The captain was using his life to exchange for their chance of survival. What they lacked most now was time. As long as someone could stop the enemy, they could join the support troops. But if they had to use the captain's life to exchange for time, they would rather fight side by side with the captain.

"Retreat, this is an order." Jun Hao said seriously, "Do you want to disobey the military order? Retreat."

"Yes." They were soldiers, and it was their duty to obey orders. They had to jump even if there was a bottomless abyss ahead. The seven men left their few remaining ammunition to Jun Hao, hoping that their captain could hold on a little longer. The seven men reluctantly looked at Jun Hao, and ran into the forest ahead together, disappearing in front of Jun Hao in a moment.

"Goodbye, my dear comrades, I hope I will have the chance to see you again." Jun Hao said to the seven disappearing figures. Since they chose to stay, he was ready to sacrifice.

He collected the ammunition left by his comrades, quickly found a shelter, hid himself, and prepared to fight. He would not give up his life until the last moment.

As soon as he hid himself, the enemy chased after him, and Jun Hao engaged in a head-on firefight with the enemy. The enemy's firepower was very fierce, and Jun Hao was hit by several bullets after just a short while of fighting. Even if Jun Hao was the best soldier in the army, he could not fight a hundred alone.

Jun Hao tried hard to hold on, he just wanted to buy more time for his comrades, so that they could run further. Jun Hao was hit by several bullets, and his green camouflage uniform was stained with blood. Due to excessive blood loss, Jun Hao felt his body getting colder and colder, and his vision became more and more blurred. Jun Hao knew that he didn't have much time. After firing the last bullet, Jun Hao collapsed to the ground powerlessly.
