Grace
"What's that?" I asked Carl as I moved my head to get a glance into the hallway.
"I don't know. I'll go see." Carl stood up.
Beth pressed a wet rag onto my forehead and at first it felt nice. My eyes widened when it began to burn. Beth cupped her hand tightly around my mouth when I started to shout. She was cleaning it with rubbing alcohol, with no warning.
"Hush. Hush! I've got to clean it, Grace. Don't be mad jm me." Beth whispered.
My screams sounded more like muffled groans through Beth's hand, but it hurt like hell.
"What's going on?" Carl nervously asked as he rushed into the room.
Beth removed her hand from my mouth but she left the alcohol towel on my wound.
"She cleaned the wound with no warning." I glared over at Beth.
"Are you okay?" Carl sat by my side.
"I'll be fine. I'm just kinda dizzy and my head hurts. What was it in the hall?" I explained, but I was more concerned with what was going on outside of this room.
"Umm... my dad said we're gonna go into the herd." Carl's eyes filled with fear.
"Into the herd? What?" I was perplexed.
"He said if we put the walker guts on ourselves and stay quiet that it will mask the smell. We can't stay up here forever. They'll get up somehow. My dad did it with Glenn before. It works." Carl reassured me.
"I feel so nauseous though. If I put walker guts on me, then I might be sick. Whatever. As long as it keeps us alive, right?" I bit my lip nervously.
"Wait, you're nauseous and your head hurts? Let me look at your eyes." Beth said quickly as she turned my head towards her with her hand.
"Oh shit." Beth muttered.
"What?" Carl asked before I could.
"Grace I think you got a concussion. Again. I- I don't know what to do." Beth started to spiral.
"I swear to god I'm gonna kill him-" Carl said about Ron as he began to angrily stand up.
"Carl, no. I'll be fine. Just leave it, okay?" I pleaded, not wanting to deal with another fight.
"Fine." He rolled his eyes as he sat down next to me.
Beth sighed as she continued to examine me. Her face was now wearing a worried expression which offered no ease to anyone in the room. Deanna coughed next to me and I put my hand on top of hers to let her know that she wasn't alone.
I tried to stand up to show everyone that I was okay, but my head began to pound more than before and it felt like the room was spinning. I grabbed onto Carl before I sat back down. I was beginning to feel truly scared.
"We'll make it." I whispered, more to calm Carl than my own mind.
"We just need to stick together. It will be okay." I assured him as Beth attatched a bandage to my head.
"Are you guys ready? We've got to get moving." Rick said with an urgency in his voice as he entered the doorway.
He was completely covered in walker guts and the stench began to fill the room. My nose turned up and I felt my stomach beginning to churn. I let out a deep breath and stood up shakily, trying to fight can the nausea. I leaned against Beth as Carl started to help Deanna up.
"Wait, what about Deanna, dad?" Carl looked up at his father.
"No. You have to go. I wanna stay here." Deanna said weakly as she layed back down on the bed.
