"And only then will the people of Tajikistan know true and lasting peace. " Y/N looked at her colleague, smiling as she finished reading her draft.

'Y/N, it's brilliant. It's really moving. But it's never gonna appear in Composure magazine' Gracie sighed as she pushed herself away from her best friend's desk.

'God, I busted my butt in grad school to be Y/N Y/L/N, how-to girl, and write articles like, "How to Use the Best Pick-up Lines", and "Do Blondes, Do They, Like, Really Have More Fun?" I wanna write about things that matter, like politics and the environment and foreign affairs, things I'm interested in.'

It sucked, really. Being a journalist was Y/N's dream and her ultimate goal. Getting a job at a beauty magazine seemed great, amazing even at first, especially for a beginner, for someone who has just graduated but she has spent the last 5 years working for the company and she was more than ready for a change.

'Keep busting your butt. You're gonna get there. But hey, I got something to cheer you up. You know that editor from 'Sports Illustrated' that you have been shamelessly flirting with on the phone for, I don't know, a month, now? She made a little delivery this morning.' Gracie smirked and raised and envelope in the air.

'Let me see!' Y/N reached for it, but Gracie raised it higher. 'Hey! Don't. No. Hey!' the Y/H/C haired girl laughed but somehow managed to get the envelope from her friend. 'Tomorrow night' she gasped.

'What happens tomorrow night?' Gracie raised an eyebrow.

'Only the most exhilarating and artistic display of athletic competition known to mankind' the older girl explained excitedly.

'The Ice Capades are in town?' Gracie joked and laughed at herself a little.

'No, the NBA finals are in town, and I got tickets! Come with me?'

'All right, I'll go. But I am not putting out.'

'Two stale jumbo dogs and a couple of beers, you'll be whistling a different tune' Y/N sticked her tongue out and put the tickets in her wallet.

'You know what I like.'

'Good morning, ladies' Lori, one of the journalists interrupted the conversation. 'Don't forget, staff meeting in 60 minutes!' she jumped up and down a few times and then went to a different room to inform the other workers as well. She was cringe, Y/N thought.

'Taylor. Haven't seen her all morning. Have you?' Gracie asked, already knowing the answer.

'Ten-to-one she's wallowing. It's my turn. I'll get her. You get the coffee. No milk or sugar, she needs a strong, black one.' Y/N got up from her desk, got her purse and rushed out of the building.

'Hello, Jenna' the brunette heard the voice she know all too well behind her back. After a quick eye roll, she spun around and was faced with her biggest rival in the industry.

'Hey, hey. Good morning, Barrera' she sighed. 'What are you reading, girl? You catching up on your current events?' A beauty magazine was in Melissa's hand but the title of the article she was reading caught Jenna's attention immediately."Turn-on Tricks: How to Make Her Hot." 'You know, if you wanna try those out sometime, we should get together' she joked.

'Madison and I have an appointment at Composure, the fastest-growing women's magazine in the country. And seeing as how our clients run a lot of our campaigns in their nationally syndicated little girly magazine, it wouldn't hurt you to do a little reading' she explained.

'Hey, Jenna!' another of her rivals joined them in the lobby.

'Good morning, Madison' she smiled politely.
