"A hushed murmur rippled through the school garden, audible only to those present. A boy knelt on one knee, a bouquet of flowers clutched in his hand. A girl, Evvie, stood before him, seemingly unfazed. He stammered nervously, "Evvie, I've liked you for almost a month now, and today I finally had the courage to confess. Evvie, will you be my girlfriend?" He forced a smile, his nerves betraying him. The crowd, too, began to whisper. One girl shook her head sadly, "Poor him." Another boy, echoing her sentiment, added, "I pity him. I felt the same way when I tried to confess to her." He watched the boy with a melancholic expression. "I guess he doesn't know about her," another boy muttered, shaking his head. "How can he even win? Look at him, he's just a boring nerd," a girl scoffed, before leaving the crowd. Silence fell as the boy on his knees spoke again, "Evvie, y-you don't need to worry. I- I can w-wait f-"

He didn't get to finish his sentence. Evvie cut him off, her voice is cold and her brow raised. "Do you even know what you're doing?" she asked, her tone laced with disdain. "How about I ask you why everyone so easily falls for girls?" she scoffed. "Days, weeks, months, without even knowing the girls' background. This is why you all get hurt. You're all so stupid, mad, and crazy when it comes to love. Does it even exist?" she spat. "Stay away from me! Don't you understand? I thought you were smart enough to know that, but you're just like everyone else - stupid. So, I'm telling everyone in this school," she glared at the crowd before focusing on the boy again, "I don't freaking like you, and I will never like anyone from this stupid school. Leave me alone and don't show your face to me again!" With that, she stormed off. The crowd, filled with pity for the boy, who had run away after the humiliating encounter, began to disperse.

The rooftop wind whipped around Brix as he leaned against the wall, his gaze distant. "Did you hear?" he asked, his voice barely a whisper. "She made another boy cry again."

Zhian scoffed, his face hardening. "It's so easy for her to hurt people," he spat, his voice laced with bitterness. "Just like she did to Hannah."

Brix sighed, his shoulders slumping. "Is this still the reason you're so rude to her, Zhian? It's all in the past. We're all suffering from the mistakes we made."
