Chapter 40: Accompanying By Your Side
"Violence." Despite saying this, Song Yimo seemed visibly happy. "Men should not hit women, that's called bullying."
"I'll do anything you want, so why don't you call me 'gege' and listen to me?"
Song Yimo couldn't quite get the words out. To her, 'Dage' and 'Gege' were very different. Anyone older than her could be called 'Dage' as a sign of respect, but 'Gege' was too intimate for her. She must have used it when she was little, but she didn't remember much about it.
Zhai Muyang didn't push, quickly changing the subject when he saw her discomfort. "Why didn't you tell me that Grandma was sick? I haven't seen you online for days, and I thought something had happened to you."
"I didn't have time." Yi Mo recalled her thoughts at the time. "I was probably a bit too optimistic, thinking that Grandma only had a minor issue that could be resolved with some medication. Did Miao Dad tell you?"
"Yeah, I called him. Next time if something happens, remember to tell me. If it's urgent, at least leave a message."
"Okay." Song Yimo listened to his somewhat nagging words with a raised eyebrow. The brief sadness of losing a blood relative seemed to be instantly healed. Having someone there with her in times like this felt really good.
Zhai Dage, thank you.
They got off at the hospital entrance, first booked a room at a hotel nearby, bought seafood porridge and soup for Grandma, and a meal for He Yi before returning. As they stepped out of the elevator, they saw He Yi pacing back and forth.
"Miao Mama."
"What took you so long? Auntie has asked several times."
Yi Mo smiled at the nurse watching them, "The notary office was quite far. Does Grandma know?"
"She asked, and I didn't hide it. What about Song Yi?"
"She's leaving."
He Yi wasn't surprised. She had already guessed when she saw only the two of them coming out of the elevator. But to see a friend she had known since childhood become so heartless, not even willing to come back to see her own mother on her sickbed, it chilled her to the bone.
"But how should we explain this to Auntie?"
"Say it however you want to. Since she's gone, there's no way you can make her understand. Let's go; the food will be cold."
Auntie must be feeling really sad. He Yi sighed and stopped thinking about that woman, "Have you two eaten?"
"Not yet. I'll feed Grandma first and then go have dinner with Zhai Dage."
"No need, no need. I'll take care of Auntie. You go have dinner with Mr. Zhai."
Yi Mo looked back at Zhai Dage, "I'll go see Grandma first."
Grandma kept staring at the door, and as she saw them enter, she struggled to sit upright. "Where's that wretched woman?"
Song Yimo hurried over and helped Grandma lie back down, "I sent her away. Otherwise, she would have stayed here and upset you."
But Grandma wasn't as easily pacified this time. She grabbed her granddaughter's hand and sat her down beside her. "He Yi says you signed an agreement with Song Yi. Can you tell Grandma what it's about?"
"It's just asking her not to appear in the future. However Grandma and I choose to live our lives, whatever wealth we have, it has nothing to do with her. She agreed. Grandma, do you miss her?"
