Note: This came longer than I expected. Well, consider this a late Halloween gift.

Well, hi!
I don't really know what exactly I'm even doing here on the internet sharing this story.

I mean this happened a long ass time ago.

25 years ago to be exact - we are having an anniversary like you can see. Maybe that's the reason. I guess that fact has put me in a bit of a gloomy mood.

To be upfront I'm having a dilemma. On one hand I don't really wanna share. The last time I did was years ago and well…that didn't go very well. After that I just wanted to put everything behind but here I am…
Writing this took a looong time and I still don't quite know how to put everything into words.

On the other hand however. Well JD would have wanted me to share, so I'm doing it for his sake. Let this story be a lesson.

Also I'm kind of a bad storyteller, so excuse my talent or more so the lack of it.

Without further ado let's start with introducing the friend group and the scene shall we.

There were 4 of us.

Steve a.k.a Nerdy because he was crazy about computers, Star Wars, D&D…well nerdy stuff you know. I don't even know. Yeah, we were not very imaginative with that nickname. He was actually my next door neighbor and our fathers were friends so naturally we also had to become friends. It was inevitable.

I was too young to remember when exactly that happened but one moment we didn't know each other and the next we were already going around playing pirates and detectives and playing with dolls (according to the official story I somewhat forced him but behind the doors we totally agree that we both enjoyed it) and so on and on.

Stella, a pretty girl jokingly nicknamed Narcissus. She had moved into our town - because of her mum's passing and her dad's inability to take care of her.
Her grandma used to visit them a lot and after hearing of her daughter's passing gladly took Narcissus under her wing.
We went to the same class. She was shy at first. I mean this 7 year old girl had just moved to a different country. She hardly spoke any english.
But I, a 6 year old kid who only knew the world to the end of our town, was endlessly fascinated by her. I wanted to know everything and anything and in being pushy (sorry for that) she finally opened up to me. After that it was only natural that we quickly became friends.
Our communication wasn't always the easiest. At the beginning we kind of developed our own language, a mix of english, her mothers tongue and nonverbal communication which then as she got older and better developed into english with bits and pieces of her mothers tongue sprinkled in for fun. Somewhere along the way she joined our friend group.

The man himself JD (no other nickname). He was somewhat of a leader of the group. My idol at the time this story takes place. He was a year older than us and on one faithful day when me and Nerdy were getting bullied by kids bigger than us he jumped in like some type of a superhero and saved us.
We were at awe. I mean those bullies? They were a little scary, you know. And then he just rescued us. After we had ran away and stopped at a random street we all collapsed on the nearby grass out of tiredness. We laughed and giggled a little, somehow finding the situation funny. Following that event he just stuck with us, nobody even questioned it or brought it up.

And finally the good old me - nickname Jelly, yes there is a story, no I'm not sharing.

So back to our story.

It was a hot and dry summer (literally it hadn't been raining for weeks dude), a small town, hella boring like you can imagine.

All that could be heard or seen was cicadas buzzing-squawking and the sun cooking us dry. A perfect environment for a bunch of 19 and a 20 year olds to get themselves in bullshit.
