Liriyal wandered the mist-laden grounds of the Entity's realm, each step echoing with the hollowness inside her. She'd been dragging herself through the endless trials, fighting, hiding, surviving — and yet, through it all, a gnawing emptiness grew within her, consuming every flicker of hope. It was as though something vital had been carved from her soul, leaving nothing but a void. Desperation welled up inside, sharp and bitter. She clenched her fists. Anything to fill this emptiness, she thought, anything to make it go away. Her thoughts twisted in frantic spirals, blinding her to the form that began to coalesce before her.
A dark, unfathomable presence took shape — the Entity itself, emerging from the shadows, its form both shifting and rigid, flickering in the dim light. Liriyal stumbled back, her heartbeat thudding painfully, her breath catching. Its eyes — if those vacant, endless pits could be called such — bore into her, devouring her weakness, her despair, and her vulnerability.
A flicker of defiance sparked within her, but it was fleeting. That forbidden thought crept into her mind, almost unbidden: What if this being could fill that void? The thought was reckless, dangerous, but it lodged itself in her mind, whispering sweet promises of reprieve from the anguish that had become her existence.
The Entity's form quivered with something akin to amusement, its gaze narrowing as it sensed her weakness, her desperation. It leaned closer, tendrils curling around her, voice slithering through her mind like oil on water. "Is it peace you seek? A way to fill that emptiness?"
Liriyal trembled, her mind swirling, barely daring to believe. She nodded, almost involuntarily, her voice choked. "Yes... yes, I want this void gone. I'll do anything," she whispered, a flicker of dread mingling with hope.
The Entity's smile twisted wider, wicked and predatory. "Such weakness... so eager, so desperate." Its words dripped with venomous satisfaction, yet Liriyal couldn't look away, couldn't move. It leaned close, tendrils reaching to encircle her, its voice dipping to a low, intimate murmur. "You want me...to inhabit you?"
A shiver ran through her, and she swallowed, hesitantly nodding. It felt like surrender, but what other choice did she have? She couldn't bear the emptiness any longer. Her voice, barely a whisper, answered, "Yes... if it's the only way."
The Entity's chuckle was dark and hungry. "Then open your mouth," it purred, the words sinking into her mind like barbed hooks. "Let me in, Liriyal."
With trembling lips, she opened her mouth, surrendering as the Entity's tendrils wrapped around her, slipping inside, pressing into every part of her being, invading her senses. Her mind fractured, the remnants of her will slipping away as the Entity claimed her body, her soul, filling her to the very core with its presence. She felt it settle within, controlling her, feeding off her weakness as it whispered dark promises of power, suffering, and endless devotion to her new purpose: a host for the Entity's wrath.
Liriyal's empty void was filled at last, but the cost would be greater than she'd ever realized.
