Emily continued to stand in the pouring rain, her clothes drenched and clinging to her skin. People passing by stared at her, some with concern, others with curiosity, but she didn't care. The cold rain was a welcome distraction from the turmoil in her mind.

Suddenly, she felt a tap on her shoulder. Startled, she turned around to see a Japanese man standing before her, holding an umbrella. He was her height, had sharp features, and was wearing a dark business suit. His dark eyes glinted with something unsettling as he looked her up and down.

"How much?" he asked, a sly smile creeping onto his lips as he pulled a sleek leather wallet from his bag, flipping it open to reveal a wad of bills.

"I'm sorry, what?" Emily responded, taken aback.

"I asked, how much," the man repeated, his tone dripping with entitlement.

"For what?" Emily's voice was tinged with disbelief.

"You. To have you for the night," he said, as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

"Excuse me?" Emily's mind raced, still processing the audacity of the situation.

"You're really beautiful. I'm willing to pay you a high amount," he added, leaning closer, his voice almost a whisper.

"Uhm... sorry, but I..." Emily stammered, overwhelmed by the sudden confrontation.

The man's expression darkened, and he grabbed her wrist, pulling her towards him. Instinctively, Emily yanked her arm back and pushed him aside, her adrenaline spiking.

"What do you think you're doing? Do I need to call the police?" the man shouted furiously, his earlier sleazy demeanor replaced by a menacing glare.

"I should be asking you the same thing," Emily shot back coldly, her fear replaced by anger. She couldn't care less about the consequences right now.

"Leave her alone, will you?" A familiar voice cut through the tension. Emily turned her head, eyes widening in relief.

"Lilia!" she exclaimed as her friend confidently stepped forward, tapping the strange man on the shoulder.

The man turned around, his face blanching when he saw Lilia's fiery gaze. Without another word, he hastily shoved his wallet back into his bag and scurried away, casting one last nervous glance over his shoulder before disappearing into the crowd. Emily's heart pounded as she watched him retreat. Lilia turned to her, concern etched across her face. "What are you doing out here in the rain? Are you okay?"

Emily, still shaken, managed a small smile. "I... I'm fine. What are you doing here?"Lilia explained that she had been drinking with some friends from university and lived close by.
