The silence was deafening, though I certainly wasn't.
Starting a book in a plain way isn't my style, so I'll begin by letting you live through every single emotion of the characters I'm about to narrate. It'll come easily to me, don't worry, since I'm certain that I am one of them.
I'll retrace steps where footprints have already been left, following their path, but with the certainty of knowing what lies ahead, long before they discover it themselves.

The sound of her shoes hitting the ground and her labored breathing were the only things that could be heard. Miss White's walk had quickly turned into a race against time. She knew that if she didn't find the exit before the clock struck three, she'd be trapped there forever.

Mr Black's words echoed in her mind. She wanted to follow him and prevent the prophecy from coming true, but she trusted him, so she pushed away the urge to turn back, gathering her courage to press on.

With each step, it felt as though the walls were closing in, and every chance of escape seemed to slip further away. The endless paths and vast spaces kept her from seeing beyond, from hoping this would all just be a distant memory in the days to come.
