minho and jisung had been at odds since the first day of college. they'd both shown up to a debate club meeting—minho with his crisp notebook and perfect attendance record, jisung with a half-empty coffee cup and a smirk.

jisung was the type to show up five minutes late and wing his speeches, while minho was the one who had every point planned out and polished. it was no surprise that their personalities clashed immediately.

"if you actually prepared, you'd know what you're talking about," minho muttered during one of their early debates, glaring across the table at jisung.

jisung only laughed, leaning back in his chair. "and if you loosened up, maybe you'd be a little less boring."

their rivalry became almost routine. minho would prepare tirelessly, only to have jisung breeze in, win half the arguments on charm alone, and leave without a second glance.

everyone in the club knew about their feud — people joked that they were "enemies to the end," and maybe they were right. neither of them could understand why they got under each other's skin so easily.

but everything changed one late night, right before finals. minho was in the library, buried under textbooks, desperately trying to study for his hardest exam.

jisung happened to walk by, on his way out after a long night of working on his music project. he saw minho hunched over his notes, looking more stressed than he'd ever seen him.

against his better judgment, jisung walked over, setting his coffee down on the table. "hey. you good?"

minho looked up, surprised to see jisung. he started to brush him off, but something about the concern in jisung's eyes stopped him. "i... i've just got a lot to do," he admitted, sounding more vulnerable than he intended.

jisung tilted his head, a small smile tugging at his lips. "you know, i'm pretty good at this stuff. if you want, i could help you out."

minho hesitated, but eventually nodded, scooting over to make room for jisung. they spent the next few hours going over notes, jisung cracking jokes to lighten the mood and minho slowly relaxing. as the night wore on, minho found himself laughing more than he had in weeks. jisung's laid-back attitude was actually comforting, and for the first time, minho saw him as more than just his rival.

when the sun started to rise, they packed up their things and walked out of the library together, the tension between them completely gone. there was something new in its place — something that made minho's heart beat a little faster when jisung looked at him.

"guess we make a good team after all," jisung said, grinning.

minho rolled his eyes but smiled back. "maybe. just don't make a habit of it."

from then on, things were different. their rivalry turned into playful banter, and their study sessions became a regular thing. somewhere along the line, minho realized he looked forward to seeing jisung — to hearing his laugh, to the way his eyes crinkled when he was really amused. and jisung, for all his teasing, started going out of his way to make minho smile.

one evening, after a particularly long study session, they were walkig back to their dorms when jisung stopped, looking at minho with a softness he hadn't shown before.

"you know," jisung said, almost shyly, "for someone who used to hate me, you're not so bad."

minho felt his cheeks warm, and for once, he didn't have a snarky comeback. "you're... not so bad yourself," he admitted.

they stood there, a quiet understanding passing betwen them. and before he knew it, minho leaned in, just enough to brush his lips against jisung's. it was soft, tentative, but it felt right.

when they pulled back, jisung was grinning. "took you long enough."

minho laughed, shaking his head. "you're impossible."

but as they walked off together, fingers brushing, minho knew that maybe, just maybe, impossible was exactly what he wanted.
