I had to kill him. My father was an abuser, a drunk, and he was going to run our business through the dirt. I was tired of stepping in between him and mother so he couldn't hit her, so I killed him.

My mother is sweetest woman I know and she did not deserve him as a husband.

"Sir, Messenger has arrived at the L/N house. The main camera is already up and the others will be up and ready by tomorrow." Christopher steps into the office and informs me.

"That's good. Thank you for informing me." I respond as I sit the chair that once belonged to my father. The rivalry between us and the L/N's has been going for many centuries now. I plan to do what my father and grandfather couldn't do, completely destroy their bloodline. The only issue is the L/N family has always been and always will be extremely secretive and private so finding information on them is hard, which is why I've resorted to spying.

Christopher nods his head and leaves the room, closing the door behind him. I click a few buttons on the keyboard and bring up the live footage. He walks behind the other new workers in a straight file line into the house. Armed guards lead the blind folded men and women into the large home that has vines crawling up it.

Once inside the group is split up and Messenger is showed to the room that he will be staying in.

"Before I allow you to unpack I just go over a few rules." The young man who showed him to his room tells him. "Mr. L/N is a very private man so the study, his office, and his bedroom are off limits unless you are specifically requested to go in there to complete a task. You are prohibited from using your phone at all so if you must make a call you will have to use the landline, we will collect your cellular device after you have unpacked. You are report any suspicious behavior from anyone in this house hold, even if it is from the men closest to Mr. L/N. The L/N children have been raised to be polite and well behaved so you are to also report if they misbehave in any way at all. Lastly, disrespecting the children will have severe consequences so don't do it. Follow these rules and you'll do well here." With that the young man exits the bedroom leaving Messenger alone.

Children? The only public knowledge of him having kids is that he has one son who is seventeen currently. My head snaps up at the door when it opens. My mother stands in the doorway holding a tray with cups of tea on it.

"Would you like some darling?" She asks as she steps closer. I shut the computer off before standing up and leading her to the sofa to sit down with me.

"Yes, thank you mama." I take the tray from her shaky arms and help her sit down. She's only forty four but due to the years of abuse from my father and the cancer she's on she's fragile.

"I'm not interrupting your work am I?" She asks softly.

"No, of course not."

"Are you sure? You looked like you were doing something."

"I'm sure, mama." My father hated it when she would come into the office while he was working so she's always been weary about disturbing me while I was working. She tries to act like she's not, but I know that she's scared of me also.

She nods her head and takes a sip of her tea. I take a drink of mine before setting it on the side table.

"How are feeling, mama?"

"Oh I'm feeling just fine. You don't need to worry about me, I'm doing good." She reassures me but I know she's lying. My mother would never openly tell anyone that she's not doing okay because she doesn't want to be a burden, she doesn't want to be a bother. My mother is a very quiet woman who has always seemed to never have any opinions or feelings of her own. She'll go along with whatever and do it whatever to make others happy. Growing up she hardly ever told me no, I could do everything and anything as long as I was happy.

If I ever got in trouble it was by my father, never my mother.

"Has the doctor been nice?"

"Definitely. He's a very polite man." She says before taking another sip of her tea. "You really don't have to worry about me."

I nod my head and sigh knowing she's not gonna budge.

Once my mother leaves I go back to the desk to watch the camera. Messenger follows a man through the house until they arrive in a large living room. Sitting on the creme colored couch is the one and only F/N L/N, his wife sits next to him reading a book ignoring what is happening around her.

On the other side of the room is a H/C girl who's face I can't see. She browses through the shelf of books as L/N talks to her.

"You shouldn't have done that."

"Why not?" She turns around allowing me to see her face. She's lovely, but who is she?

"What you did was extremely dangerous. You didn't even ask me if you could be the one to interrogate him you just did it." L/N scolds. Messengers moves forward and places the tray of drinks on the coffee table in front of the couch causing me to lose sight of her.

"I got the information didn't I?"

"That's not the point. You need to ask me before you go doing things like that, especially when it's handling someone as dangerous as him."

"Dad, I knew what I was doing." She groans. "You're always telling me that I need to start taking more responsibility to get ready for to take over when you step down so that's exactly what I did. I took more responsibility."

She's his daughter, and not only that but also his successor. He's a smart man for keeping this hidden. If others knew about her existence they would prey on the fact that she's a woman by means of alliance or destroying their family. Either way they would see an opportunity to gain something. Messenger hands the glasses of wine to the couple then exits the living room with a bow.

I wait eagerly for the night to come because that's when Messenger will be able to set up the other cameras. I need to know more.
