October of 2010Harry's POV
"This is much better!" Louis laughed out loud, and I couldn't help but roll my eyes. Our gig practice had practically been canceled because apparently he's injured. Both he and Zayn had somehow managed to injure themselves, and honestly, it was all their faults. Idiots.
Niall was practically in tears, laughing at them. Both of them had broken arms. Of course, Louis was making the most of it, drawing ridiculous pictures on Zayn's cast. Right now, he was doodling a pair of boobs and Zayn is grumbling about it but all he could do was glare.
Liam, the only one who seemed remotely composed, was sitting beside me, strumming his guitar gently. His music was a calm contrast to the chaos. The steady rhythm helping me focus as I tried to write new songs for our upcoming performance, even though the whole situation felt like it was falling apart.
We have a performance evaluation coming up week.
"Honestly, I don't know how you two managed this," I muttered, glancing over at Louis and Zayn as they bickered over whose fault it was.
"Don't blame us, mate," Zayn grumbled. "It wasn't my fault the ladder broke."
"It wasn't the ladder!" Louis argued. "It was you pushing me off it! I told you not to mess around with the paint!"
I turned my attention back to my notebook, trying to drown out their banter. I wasn't in the mood for their nonsense. Not today. Instead, I focused on the lyrics that were slowly coming together in my mind.
"You should be grateful for the break," Liam said, glancing over at me. "We needed some time to reset anyway."
I looked up from my notebook, giving him a half smile. "Yeah, I guess. Just wish it wasn't because of those two."
After I'm done talking, a pen suddenly flew and hit me in the head. I turned quickly, my glare locking onto the culprit. Louis. Of course.
"Why did you do that?" I snapped, irritation evident in my voice.
Louis just smirked, clearly enjoying the reaction. "We've been in a band for a month, and you're still a big nerd!" He teased, leaning back in his chair with a smug look.
I rolled my eyes, rubbing the spot where the pen had hit me. "I'm just trying to get the lyrics right," I muttered. "Unlike you, I actually take this seriously."
Zayn snorted, trying to hide his amusement while Niall laughed outright. "He's got a point," Niall said, giving Louis a playful nudge.
Louis scoffed dramatically, pretending to be wounded. "I didn't say it was a bad thing! I'm just saying you need to loosen up a little. You're too... serious sometimes."
I narrowed my eyes at him. "Maybe because someone in this band has to be."
I just ignored him, refusing to give him the satisfaction of a reaction. He's probably doing this to taunt me. Louis and I never got along, even back when we were trainees. He always seemed to find new ways to get under my skin, and I was sure this was no different.
I sighed, deciding to focus on the notebook in front of me. The lyrics were slowly coming together, though the noise around me wasn't helping. Louis kept making some sarcastic comment to Zayn, and Niall's laughter echoed through the room like a soundtrack of chaos. Liam was the only one who seemed remotely grounded.
"That's not a boobs! That's a fucking watermelon!" Louis shouted, looking at Zayn's attempt at drawing on his cast. Zayn just shrugged, unfazed by Louis' outburst.
