-Start of Chapter 67-
Y/N's POV
The early morning light filters through the curtains, but it does little to chase away the darkness lingering in my mind. I sit up, rubbing my temples, trying to shake off the restless sleep.
The visions kept me tossing and turning all night: the shadows, those piercing red eyes... a sense of dread I can't shake. Something bad is going to happen, I think, biting my lip, but I quickly push the thought away. Dwelling on it won't help.
Just as I'm getting out of bed, there's a gentle knock at my door. I sigh, stifling a yawn. "Come in."
The door creaks open, and in walks... or rather, waddles in... a small figure completely obscured by an enormous bouquet of flowers. The blooms are so large that they're practically swallowing him whole, and I spring up to help him, trying not to laugh at the sight.
"Whoa! Let me help you with that." I carefully guide the massive bouquet to the table, where I finally get a proper look at the flowers. Roses, lilies, tulips, daisies, and more burst out from every angle in shades of red, pink, orange, purple, and blue.
As I turn back to my visitor, I find a little boy no older than six or seven gazing up at me with a red-tipped nose, sniffling with watery eyes.
"Oh, are you alright?" I ask, trying to keep my voice gentle.
The boy nods, rubbing his nose. "Yes, Your Highness. Just... hay fever." He sniffs again, his voice a little nasally but cheerful.
I chuckle, kneeling down to his level. "Then why were you carrying all these flowers?" I ask, amused.
The boy puffs out his chest proudly. "Because my grandma asked me to bring them. She's the head of the maids!" he says with a beaming smile. "My name's Dohyun, but you can call me Hyunnie! That's what grandma calls me"
"Oh, Dohyun! Mrs. Kim's grandson, huh?" I smile at him. "It's so nice to meet you, Hyunnie."
He bows his small frame looking even smaller before looking up at me again with a bright smile
"Nice to meet you too!" He pauses, looking up at the roses before shyly adding, "I actually helped pick these out... with the prince." His voice softens a little on the last word, as if he's sharing a secret.
My heart skips a beat. A prince? There's only one person that could mean... but I try not to let the thought linger too long. "Did he tell you anything about why he sent them?" I ask, pretending a lighthearted tone, though curiosity is eating away at me.
Dohyun nods earnestly. "He just said... he hoped the roses would make you smile. And he asked for only red ones, because they were special."
A little flutter goes through me, but I keep my face calm. "They're really pretty... Did the prince tell you anything else?"
Dohyun nods seriously, leaning in as though sharing a secret. "Yes! He said to ask you a very important question."
I raise an eyebrow, intrigued. "And what's the question?"
The little boy clears his throat, looking at the bouquet with pride. "He said... he didn't know what colour was your favourite. So he said I should ask you, and then I'll only bring those colours next time!"
