Third period
Students were casually pacing through and around the hallways in pairs of two, three or more people.Talking, laughing, and making their best of their five minute break before classes start again
Noreen was the last to leave class, observing the students walking past her before standing on the hallway on her own "It's been about two weeks and I hardly really have talked to anyone.." she catches herself thinking, looking away in thought before heading off to walk around a bit to pass her time
She was thinking of closing herself to the library before she suddenly stops and decides to buy herself a soda to get her going for until lunch.
It was nearby the stairs to the second floor. It was old,at least a decade and there were a few snacks left laying around here and there,it would probably get taken off completely once it emptied as the snacks weren't too healthy for the school's health campaign.
After better observation she notices a drink on the far left bottom "cherry soda".She squints her eyes as she looks down at the can."Hm interesting, I'd like to buy it" she thinks to herself as there was a hint of interest in her face
She stood there, carefully counting the spare change in her hand
As she was busy, a tall, brunette guy sauntered up behind her. He was wearing a varsity jacket and had a confident smile on his face. "I could buy it for you" he says almost in her ear, which startled her off
She turned around, almost dropping down her money. As she manages to calm herself down she glances up at the guy warily, frowning
"Hey there," the guy said, giving her a hand wave which made him look more like an idiot than he already was "Need some help with that?"
This had to be some kind of joke. She gave him an awkward smile back "Uh, no thanks.I've got it."
Anyone would say that this seemed like a scenario out of a romantic movie but it was more of a nightmare to say the least.
But Jason was already sliding a dollar into the vending machine and pressing the buttons for her choice of a soda. "There you go," he said, handing her the can with the same grin never leaving his face. "Welcome"
The girl hesitated but went on:
"...Thanks," she made a pause to look away for a brief moment "I really appreciate it."
The jock tilted his head a bit to the left and chuckled thoughtfully "No problem. It's always good to see a new face around here." He raises an eyebrow as he looks at her up and down " What's your name?"
"Noreen." She tells him with a slight smile and as calm as she could get herself to be
"Well, Norren," he asks thoughtfully "maybe you'd like to join me and my pals for lunch today," Jason suggested. "You know, get to know some more people."he says fixing his jacket and dropping off his smile for a moment
Noreen let out a sigh "Sure,I'd love to."
"Great." He adds , giving her finger guns "See you there"
As soon as the guy left Norren let out a groan and rolled her eyes. She couldn't believe she had to get to socialize with a person, let alone that guy.Who was the EXACT type of people she was trying to avoid all along.
On second thought befriending him could help her avoid getting bullied or whatever. Maybe she'd get to experience what being in highschool actually felt like
Her heart raced at the thought of being with the popular kids. She knew it would be shallow, but she couldn't deny the appeal of being accepted and fitting in. Maybe it'd be better this way.
Hopefully things would get better from now on
