*Flashback*
I laid there hurt, as Loyalty stood over me with rage boiling in his eyes. I couldn't run my ribs hurt badly and I couldn't feel my legs. I tried to get up but failed, Loyalty and his gang just laughed. Then *BOOM* the
door opened. It was my father, Nick."Get away from my daughter" my father screamed.
I turned my heard towards my father. He was standing in the doorway of the house.
"Daddy!" I cried out.
"Diamond" my father cried back.
"What's up Nick?" Loyalty said with a smirk on his face.

*8 years later*
It was a normal day ay school. As I sat there in Chemistry class I got a text. I slowly pulled out my phone making sure that the teacher wont see me.
I had got a test from my best friend Kaylin.
(The text)
Kaylin- Lol stop staring into space
Me- omg I hope no one noticed
Kaylin- Deanna and me did, Cayden are you okay?
Me- yea, leave me alone I'm trying to pay attention to the lesson.
I felt guilty everyday for not telling my own best friends who I am. The rest of the day went b very fast. After school Kaylin, Deanna, and me went shopping at the mall. As I was looking at clothes in Forever 21, Deanna asked me a question.
"Cayden, why haven't I met you parents? I known you for 2 years and I never met them." Deanna asked.
"Yea why is that?" Kaylin added.
I looked around the store looking for a distraction. I spotted a shirt. I grabbed the shirt and showed them. "This shirt is cute, Dee you should buy it," I said.
Deanna gave me a confused look, but she left it alone.
Good they don't suspect anything.
We walked around the mall for a few more hours. Then Kaylin spotted a flyer that labeled "Missing". Deanna looked at the flyer and then at me. She then said "Cayden she looks exactly like you"
"Yea the description fits you perfectly, only thing is that you have Jet Black Hair and this 'Diamond' girl has brown hair." Kaylin chimed in.
I started to panic. What if they found out that I'm Diamond? I'm not ready to bring up my past.
"That's not me," I responded as my eyes turned green. I quickly looked at my phone.
Oh God I hope they didn't notice my eyes. I thought.
"You eyes just turned green!" Kaylin pointed out.
"No they didn't," I said still looking at my phone, as my eyes turn greener.
That was one of the things I inherited from my great-grandmother, the color changing eyes.
My eyes turned green when I lie, Black when I'm scared/sad, Gray when I'm sick, and red when I'm mad. When I got home later that day, I turned on my TV. I turned to the new channel. I saw a picture of my uncle, Loyalty. The News reporter was talking bout how his 8 years sentence was done and he was released from Arizona State Prison Complex.
" Deshawn Reddings - or Loyalty in the streets, was released from prison as of April 23, 2016.."
*Flashback*
All I heard was laughter coming from down stairs. I looked to my right and saw my cousin, Karina, sleeping peacefully. I got out of bed and crept down the stairs of my uncle's house I stopped when I heard a man's deep voice.
"So we get answers then kill her?" the deep voice said
"Yes kill any witnesses, close all blinds and shades, and I'll do the rest." Loyalty said with a chuckle.
I gasped loudly. "What was that?" the deep voice said
" I don't know ill go see," Loyalty said getting up from his chair.
I quickly but silently ran up the stairs to the phone. I dialed my dad's father number. After 2 short rings he picked up. "Hello?" he said sounding very tired. I began to whisper in the phone "daddy, they going to kill someone I heard them" until I was cut off.
"You heard nothing" loyalty said as he grabbed the phone out my hand and threw it at the wall causing it to break into pieces. And within seconds I was grabbed by my hair and slapped hard on the face.
*End of flashback*
The next morning it was a boring Saturday. The news I received last night bothers me, a lot. What if he comes and find me, and kills me for ruining his hood life. I then grabbed my keys to my apartment and left. I walked to the nearest hair salon. When I walked in a girl greeted me around my age. " Hi, how are you? Are you here for an appointment?" she said.
'No, I want a new different look for me" I replied.
"Sure follow me," she said motioning me to follow her.
After 3 short hours of her doing her magic on my hair, I looked in the mirror. I did look different; my hair was dyed into an ombre effect. I was unrecognizable and I liked that. I know Loyalty won't find me all the way in Brooklyn, New York. It would be the last place he'll look since we don't have family out here. That following Monday I went to school. Deanna was upset with my new look but only if she knew why I did it. I was tired of my old look but I mainly changed my look just in case I ran into Loyalty or Karina in the streets. I was sitting in Homeroom when Mrs. Clarkson, my geometry teacher came in with a girl. She looked familiar but I don't know where exactly.
"Attention everybody, we have a new student, her name is Karina Reddings. She just moved here from Arizona" Mrs. Clarkson announced. My eyes shot up. Karina? My cousin? As in Deshawn (Loyalty's) daughter? She was here in Brooklyn, New York. I was interrupted out my thoughts when I heard Mrs. Clarkson say "Diamond raise you hand". I raised my hand. "Karina you can sit next to Diamond" I heard Mrs. Clarkson say. As Karina sat next to me she introduce herself. "Hi I'm Karina and you are Diamond right?" I just nodded although I changed my look I didn't change my voice. When the bell rang I walked out the class only to be stopped by Karina. "hey, Diamond Can you help me find my next class?" she asked. "Sure" I mumbled taking the schedule out of her hand. As I looked at it I realized she had all the same classes as me. I shoved the paper back into her hands and said " follow me" The day went by slowly, when I went home that day I turned on the new. I saw a detective talking "As of April 27,2016 we must report Diamond Reddings dead. Her funeral will be held this Saturday".
I'm pronounced dead? A part of me as happy and the other was sad. My past was now gone and no one will think of Diamond anymore. But then again, I wont see my mother and father again. As the week went by I stayed distant from people, mostly Karina. On Saturday I watched my own funeral. I watched as my mother put flowers on my casket. I saw all my family there crying. I then heard wailing, it was my mom. I clicked off the TV. I couldn't watch my mom suffer like that. That following Monday I saw people all over Karina's locker handing her gifts. I was grabbed and dragged into an empty stairwell by a boy. "I know your secret," he said. "What secret I have none" I said looking down knowing that my eyes have changed color. "Don't lie to me Diamond." He said. I was startled. How did he know? "Diamond is dead," I said. "Not to Karina and Loyalty they know that you are here" he said. "How do you know?" I asked. "They are coming for you. You have to run again, run to somewhere they would least suspect you," he warned me. And just like that he left me in the stairwell. I went straight home, packed my bags, got on a train. And just like that I was on the road again.
