It was supposed to be a normal day.
Skipp, Stone, and Vinnie woke up cuddled together. For once, Skipp didn't hog the blanket. In fact, the blanket was all the way off him, instead wrapped around Stone and Vinnie.
"Are you cold, angel?" Stone asks softly, holding up the blanket, inviting Skipp into the warmth of the quilt. Skipp declined, however.
"I'm okay, it's time to get up now anyways." Skipp sat up in the bed, to which Vinnie did the same, both of them being morning people. Stone groaned, not being a morning person at all though he got up with some encouragement. (The encourage being Vinnie tugging him out the bed.)
As soon as the trio got up, they were already out. When you were a Scrap, 24 hours wasn't enough. You had to spend each second of the day wisely, lest you want to go hungry.
They'd devised a scheme, like always. A Lootbag was sitting on a bench. Stone would walk in front of them, then trip and fall, which would almost always triggered their mocking holier-than-thou speech. While they were busy ridiculing Stone, Vinnie would sneak in and snatch their briefcase, while Skipp supervised from a nearby phone booth to make sure everything went according to plan.
Nothing could go wrong. The plan was foolproof.
Stone looked back at his two partners before leaving..
Wait, what was that on Skipp?...
~I saw white wings in the foggy town.~
..No, he's just hallucinating. Probably just tired.
Maybe he has schizophrenia. Maybe that blue jolly rancher twink that appeared when he got sugar rushes wasn't just a quirk of his.
No time to ponder, get to the scheme.
The plan went as predicted. Stone fell, the male Lootbag laughed at him, Vinnie looked through his briefcase. Looking back, she probably should have just grabbed the thing and ran.
Because the rich man noticed the rustling sounds, and turned to see Vinnie.
"SCRAP!" The man screeched, grabbing his briefcase away from Vinnie's hands.
"Shit!" Stone got off the ground and ran, while Vinnie and Skipp followed close behind.
But they were too late.
The man was armed. If they knew that, they never would've attempted stealing from him in the first place.
The Lootbag aimed at Vinnie, specifically at her right shoulder.
In a blink of an eye, Vinnie and Skipp suddenly switched places...
~You were my innocent angel.~
