The sun has set, and the moon is awake. I glimpse at the time on my laptop figuring I should head to bed hear soon. After finishing this last job application for the night, I sigh closing my laptop shut. I stretched my legs and yawned as I picked up my empty Chinese takeaway. I've applied to over twenty businesses this past week and you think I would get a call back, or even an email at least.
I should have just stayed at my old job and then applied for others before quitting. But on the other hand, did it feel nice to tell off Samantha, my old manager. God was she such a bitch. I look in the mirror as I take my hair out of its messy bun, letting my long dark curls fall on my back. Just to grab all of it back up to put it in a loose braid.
As I walked out of my bathroom I could see a pair of green eyes looking at me from my bed. "Are you ready for bed Miss Toodles?" I smile at my black and grey tabby cat. I climbed into bed, and she hurriedly came and curled up next to me. "Hopefully I get a job soon, I don't want Mom and Dad to worry." I eventually drifted off to sleep, warm and snuggling Miss Toodles.

I reached for my phone alarm trying to turn it off. My eyes were still closed so it took me a couple tries to stop it from screaming at me. "Oh my god can you just turn the fuck off!" I screamed throwing my phone at the edge of my bed. Finally, it was quiet.
...
"Hello?" A feminine voice came from my phone.
I don't think I have sat up so fast in my life. I reached for my phone putting it up to my ear in question. "Hello this is Marliene speaking, who may I ask is this?"
"Hi Marliene, my name is Tracie, I'm the hiring manager at Larkin Inc. I would just like to inform you that you have been scheduled for an interview next week on Thursday at 11:23 am. Does that sound okay with you?" my heart was in the pit of my stomach. "Yes, yes that sounds perfect thank you so much." I'm standing at this point with a huge smile on my face. "Okay then, for additional information a message will be sent to you, if you have any questions do not hesitate to call or email back, have a nice day."
"Bye," I managed to say as she hung up. My mouth hangs open as I look in shock at Miss Toodles. "I have an interview" I whisper.
"I have an interview!" I yelled jumping up and down happier than ever. Wait. I don't even have any professional clothes. I stopped jumping. hurriedly I grabbed my shoes, wallet, and keys not caring how I looked I just needed to make sure I look nice for Thursday.

EXTRA (Different Pov)
The Night Before.
It was close to midnight. The street lights are on, and still many people are walking the streets.
I turn from the giant window to look at all the paperwork in front of me, too tired to do the rest of it. Today was a productive day yet I still feel as if I got nothing done. A knock sounds at my office door. "come in" I say as I rub my temples. "Mr. Bernadotte," I look up to see my receptionist peeking through the door. "Yes, Sarah."
"Tracie brought these by to see if you wanted to take a last look before they head out." She held a stack of papers. More paper work I assume. I internally rolled my eyes. "What are they?" I asked as she handed them to me.
"Job applications to be your receptionist," she smiled as she rubbed her very pregnant stomach. Sarah put her 2 weeks' notice in to be a stay-at-home mother, I am happy for her, she came back from her honeymoon a few months ago so her falling pregnant is no surprise. "ah I forgot," I said skimming over the first applicant in distaste; immediately putting it in the paper shredder. I set the stack down quite harshly making the papers spread everywhere on my desk. "I'm heading out now, I just wanted to give you those applications, don't stay up here too late, I can see how much paperwork you have to finish," Sarah said teasing me as she waddled her way back out the door.
"Yes Sarah, thank you very much have a good night." I waved my hand as she closed the door. leaning my head back and closing my eyes, I sighed very deeply needing some zen in my life. I groaned sitting back up to collect all the papers on my desk to take home. That is until I landed on a specific application.
"Marliene Hearst,.. Age 23,.. Birthday is May 31,.. Graduated from cloahouser Highschool,.." I looked at her application picture, studying her. She has black curly hair that takes up most of the picture frame, and bangs that hide her forehead but show off her eyes more. I made sure to put her application on the top of my stack and headed home for the night.
