A/N sorry I kept you waiting for this but I had no idea what to make happen

Taylor let out a raw scream, one that shook Travis to his very core. The strangled sound ripped from her throat, echoing off the walls as she panted, trying to keep the pain at bay.

"I know, I know, I'm sorry!" Travis said through gritted teeth as he dug into the wound, the tweezers clasping around the object. He pulled it out, setting it to the side before grabbing some gauze and his needle and thread. He pressed the gauze to the wound, trying to stem some of the bleeding.

Taylor's face was pale, her eyes squeezed shut as tears rolled down her cheeks. The pain was too much for her to bare, and she felt like passing out.
"Hey, hey, stay with me" Travis urged as he thread the needle through her skin, wincing as she flinched. Once it was done he grabbed some more gauze, holding it over the incision.

He pulled his gloves off, taping the gauze down.
"Stay with me Taylor" he urged frantically, placing a hand on her forehead whilst grabbing a bottle of water from behind him. Taylor squinted her eyes open, doing everything she could to try and stay conscious. He held the bottle up to her lips, gently nudging them open.
"Here, have some water; it will help you feel better" he told her gently, tipping the bottle up so a stream of water trickled into her mouth.
"That's it, good girl"

Taylor leant back, closing her eyes.
"Get some rest, yeah? I'll be here if you need me" Taylor nodded drowsily, the pain turned more into a dull ache as she slipped into the world of unconsciousness.

Travis stayed by her side the whole thirteen hours she was asleep, only leaving to get food and water and relieve himself. He was too scared that if he left something would happen, that she'd stop breathing or something, and so he stayed by her side the whole time, watching her breathe.

A month later

Taylor was healing well, her incision almost a mere scar. Travis had given her remedies to strengthen her body and had helped her around, feeding her and giving her water. Taylor had been up and walking, well, hobbling, for a couple of days now, with help from Travis. They were both delighted in her progress, and Travis knew she'd be ready to go back on the road in a couple of months.

However, secretly, he didn't want her to go. In the time they had been locked up together they had become best friends, maybe even more than that. Travis loved her- platonically of course- and wanted to protect her in every way possible. Going out on the road again, especially by herself, would be very dangerous. He was tempted to ask her to stay with him- the company was nice as well- but he hadn't got round to asking her yet.

It was a thursday evening and the pair were sitting out on the deck, chatting to eachother. Just then Travis noticed something out the corner of his eye.
"Shit" he swore under his breath, standing up and peering out. He could just about make out a group of men behind some trees down the road. He could see a pistol in one of their hands, a shotgun in another.
"Shit shit shit" he swore, quickly turning around.
"What? What is it?" Taylor asked worriedly.
"There's men over there- I need you to get inside" he told her firmly. "Hide somewhere, like a closet or the bathroom"

Taylor nodded, wincing as she rose to her feet. Using the doorframe to steady herself she hobbled inside.
"Quickly Taylor!" Travis exclaimed as he unlocked the safe with his gun in.
"I'm trying" Taylor snapped, groaning as she picked up the pace. She entered the bathroom, locking the door and sitting down on the toilet lid. It would be better if she could hide in the bath or something, however she couldn't get that low by herself.

It had been no more than twenty seconds after Travis had gotten the pistol in his hand, loaded and ready when the front door burst open. The men flocked in, guns at the ready as Travis hid behind a wall. All he could do was hope that Taylor had gotten somewhere safe.

There were about six men, four with some sort of gun and one with a knife. When they were all faced away from him Travis seized his chance, leaping out and firing blindly. He could just about make our two men fall to the floor in the haze of bullets, but the others jumped out the way.

He slipped back behind the wall, using it as a shield, his panting heavily. The gunshots were ringing in his ears as he tried to gain back his consciousness, trying to be aware of his surroundings.

He was just about to step out once more when he noticed the silence that had descended over the house. He peered round the wall, only spotting two bodies on the floor. Where were the other men?

Before he knew what was happening he heard a blood curdling scream from above him, one that made his heart drop. He knew that scream all too well.
