Sunlight shines through the floor-to-ceiling windows at a low angle. It's Monday. Gareth is watching the morning news as Morgan walks into the living area. The anchor appears, and the headline switches to "Stark Ind. Discovery Leak."
"Breaking news. We have independently verified that Stark Industries not only has a full-scale quantum computer up and running-"
Morgan sighs. QAI was right. She heads into the kitchen.
"-but their new CEO Morgan Stark has installed a quantum-powered AI in the Headway she got in a Stark Industries lab on Friday."
Morgan freezes, eyes wide. How did they know that?
"Morgan?" Gareth falters. He turns off the TV with a click that echoes in the silence.
Morgan closes her eyes. "It's true."
Gareth's eyes are wide, incredulous. "You put a quantum computer in your head?" Then he frowns and crosses his arms. "Wait, I'm not talking to it right now, am I?" He sounds annoyed.
"I haven't even turned it on yet today!" Morgan protested. "No."
Hand covering his mouth, Gareth stares at her for a moment. Then he takes his hand away and says in awe, "I am in love with Tony Stark's daughter right now."
Morgan gives him a small smile.
Gareth doesn't seem to mind, but everyone else does. Podcasters and reporters alike criticize her actions with phrases like "unethical use of technology", "quantum threat", "Queen Morgan", "just like her father", and "privatizing world computation".
Meanwhile at their farmhouse, the Bartons watch the discussion of Morgan's actions on the news as they go about their day.
"Sounds like she's the next one," Laura said, picking up a dish to dry. "Didn't see that coming. Did you?"
Clint stops sharpening his hunting knife to check the edge. "Pepper's just as tough as Tony. I figured, Laura, that it was just a matter of time."
