One Direction had finally arrived in the Netherlands for their *Where We Are* Tour. With two days to spare before the concert, the group was given the opportunity to explore the city and enjoy a well-deserved break.
Y/N decided to spend the day with Lou for a girls' day out, giving the boys some space for their own bonding time.
"Stand over there, doll. I'll take a picture of you," Lou said, pointing to a picturesque bridge that showcased Amsterdam's iconic architecture. However, Y/N was too engrossed in her phone, typing away as she checked in on the boys to see how they were doing.
Lou rolled her eyes and swiftly snatched Y/N's phone. "HEYY!" Y/N protested.
"We're on a break, mother! Have some fun, alright? I'm sure the boys are enjoying their time, you should too." Lou pointed out, keeping Y/N's phone just out of her reach.
"But—"
"Ah ah... no buts!" the hairstylist said, waving her index finger. "No distractions. Just relax, Y/N!" Y/N sighed but eventually nodded, prompting Lou to hand her phone back. Y/N glanced at one last notification before locking it and switching it to silent mode.
With a grin, she slipped her phone into her bag. "No distractions," she echoed, walking over to the bridge Lou had pointed out earlier to pose for a photo.
---
The ladies spent the entire day exploring and snapping pictures at every turn. "Amsterdam is indeed very beautiful, isn't it?" Lou remarked, taking a sip of her coffee.
After wandering for a while, they stumbled upon a cozy café and decided to stop for a bite to eat, feeling drained from their adventure. It was the perfect spot to recharge before heading back to the hotel.
"Yes, we've seen so many breathtaking sights, and there's still so much more we haven't explored. I really hope we can come back here for a vacation," Y/N replied, opening her phone to see an avalanche of missed calls and texts from the boys.
Her eyes widened as her phone lagged under the sheer number of notifications. Lou chuckled, taking a bite of her croissant. "Let me guess, the boys are looking for you?" she raised an eyebrow at Y/N.
"You know it..." she sighed, scrolling through her phone. "They've sent hundreds—maybe even thousands—of texts asking where we are."
"God, these boys are gonna kill me for not responding!" she mumbled, reading the texts one by one. Just as she was about to reply, her phone rang. It was Zayn calling.
She glanced at Lou, who was still busy munching her croissant, before answering the call. "Hello?"
The noise on the other end was overwhelming, a chaotic blend of voices. She even heard a pan clanging in the background. Furrowing her brows, she spoke louder, "Hello???"
"Y/N?!? Guys, she answered!!" Zayn's voice broke through, and she could sense the rest of the boys huddling around the phone.
"Where are you?"
"Are you alright? Are you hurt?"
"You're not lost, are you?"
"Why weren't you answering your phone?"
They were all talking over one another, their voices blending into a chaotic mess that made it impossible for her to respond. "Guys? Hey, uh, no. Yes, I'm here—guys, please!" she said, trying to cut through the barrage of questions.
"GUYS! Calm down! I'm okay!" she whisper-shouted, which finally quieted the noise on the other end.
There was a brief pause, followed by Liam's familiar voice, calmer now, "Where have you been? We've been worried sick."
Y/N sighed, a mix of frustration and warmth in her tone. "I was just out exploring with Lou, getting a little break before everything kicks off. I'm fine, really."
Niall's voice came through next, a hint of relief breaking through his usual playful tone. "Next time, just let us know, yeah? Thought we'd have to send a search party."
She laughed softly, feeling the tension ease. "I promise. I'll be back at the hotel soon." A chorus of "good" and "see you soon" followed, the worry in their voices giving way to relief.
---When she finally walked into the hotel lobby that evening, the boys were there, exchanging glances and letting out collective sighs when they saw her safe and sound.
Before she knew it, she was tackled in a tight group hug. Lou smiled at her as she headed toward the elevator, leaving Y/N with the boys.
Harry was the first to speak, a smile tugging at his lips. "Took you long enough," he teased, but his eyes were warm.
Zayn added with a smirk, "We thought you got lost."
Just as she was freed from their embrace, Louis suddenly tapped her shoulder. When she turned to face him, he wrapped her in another tight hug.
"Don't you ever scare us like that again, love. We were so worried. I was so worried," Louis whispered in her ear, burying his face against her neck. His concern warmed Y/N's heart, and she hugged him back tightly.
"Please, I could never get lost with you lot waiting to text me a map," she said with a grin.
As they pulled back from the hug, Niall chuckled, "Well, maybe we should send you a map just in case!"
"Yeah, or we could just keep a tracker on you," Harry joked, feigning seriousness as he pointed to his wrist like it was a watch.
Y/N laughed, feeling the weight of their worry lift as they fell into their usual rhythm. "Honestly, I'll make sure to keep my phone close next time—or at least keep my ringer on," she promised.
"Good," Liam said, ruffling her hair playfully. "Just remember, we're a team. We worry because we care."
"Exactly," Zayn chimed in, his smirk softening. "And we'd rather not have a repeat of today."The atmosphere lightened, filled with teasing and laughter. It felt good to be back with them, to see their smiles and hear their banter.
"Thank you, guys. I really appreciate it. I love you five so much!" she said, her heart swelling with gratitude.
They all exchanged warm smiles, and Niall nudged her playfully. "We love you too, but don't forget to keep us in the loop next time!"
"Definitely," she agreed, feeling the warmth of their camaraderie wrap around her like a comforting blanket.
The group was once again whole, and Y/N knew that no matter where her adventures took her, she would always have a safe haven waiting with her boys. Together, they could take on anything, and with that thought, she felt a sense of belonging that made all the chaos worthwhile.
And suddenly, the Doncaster boy spoke up again, wrapping an arm around her shoulder. "Let's eat! I'm famished!"
Y/N laughed at his enthusiasm but quickly agreed. After all, this reunion after a day without each other definitely called for a good dinner.
"Alright, where to?" she asked, looking around at her friends, who were already brainstorming their next meal.
"Pizza!" Harry exclaimed, his eyes lighting up. "You can never go wrong with pizza."
"Or we could try that new Italian place down the street," Liam suggested, glancing at the menus posted outside.
"Whatever it is, let's make it quick—I need food before I start to fade away," Zayn chimed in dramatically, earning a round of chuckles from the group.
With laughter echoing around them, they set off, the city lights twinkling as the sun began to set.Y/N felt grateful not only for the adventures they shared but for moments like this—where laughter and friendship filled the air. It was these little things that made life with One Direction feel so special.
