Venti weaved his way through the road leading to the whispering woods. Paimon and the traveler from beyond were not far behind.
Along the way, Venti explained his plan to them. Paimon had told Lumine about the dragon, one of the four winds that once protected Mondstadt. Though Paimon might not have been the greatest person to talk to regarding Dvalin, she still gave Lumine a rundown: how the dragon was once a protector of the nation of freedom and liberty and now poses a threat to the nation at large.Venti could at least take some comfort in knowing that no one seems to know about Dvalin's true identity. Everyone refers to him by an entirely different name; Stromterror. Terrible name.
Those journalists at the Steambird are at their old games again, it seems. As they arrive in the appointed location, Venti summons forth a lyre.
This was the first time Lumine had seen other people summon things out of thin air. She could do it, and so could Paimon. Could everyone in Teyvat do that?Flipping through her book, Paimon smiled.
"It's the middle of the day. Fair wind, clear skies. Perfect day to summon your dragon.""More of your Natlan stories, my dear Archivist?" Venti teased.
"Heh. Natlan's different, but anyway, now's as good a time as any to get Dvalin here." Paimon replied.
"Studies at the Sumeru Akademiya, as well as scholars from Liyue have concluded that weather conditions play a big role in a dragon's mood. We can expect him to be in a somewhat better position to be spoken to."Lumine rubbed her chin.
"... Wait, isn't that the big school place?"Paimon laughs.
"Haha. The Sumeru Akademiya is more than just a school. It's like an entire nation controlled by an educational institution... Honestly, the Akademiya is a bit of a Frankenstein abomination when you think about it. Sumeru's laws, the customs, parts of the economy, all of that is decided behind closed Akadmiya doors."Lumine looked at her shocked.
"Wow, no separation of powers?""Nope. The Akademiya is the culture, school, government, and economy all rolled into one. Paimon thinks this is a questionable setup since now you have a single institution dividing its bureaucracy trying to be an educational institution and being the government... But Paimon supposes that's Sumeru's problem."
Paimon turns to Venti.
"Well, time to get going, Barbatos!"Nodding along, Venti started to play a simple tune. Though to Lumine it was a welcome change of music. She had been listening to the same relaxed, happy-go-lucky music that Paimon likes to play on a loop in the Archives.
Though it may be simple in tune and overall composition, it was enough."Just wait, he'll be here any moment now."
The air started to pick up around them. Cider Lake, which was usually motionless for a good portion of the year started to move erratically. As if it were a cauldron of hot water. The ducks made a break for the land, birds flew in every direction.
Most birds found refuge with the boy on the bridge: Timmie. Gathering his dearest friends all around him, the boy made a run for the city gates. Birds hanging all over him as the knights ushered him in.
The wind was becoming more and more powerful. Loose roof tiles were ripped off of their positions. Crashing against the city walls or hitting unsuspecting bystanders as people rushed inside for safety.
Dionna, who had just come in for work hissed.
"What's with this wind?!"
Her tail shot up and her body began to respond to the imminent danger all around her.One of the drunk patrons at the cat's tail wandered out, narrowly getting hit by loose roof tiles. Yet, he remained utterly oblivious to the danger.
Enraged at the bumbling buffoon before her, Dionna grabbed him by the neck collar, shouting.
"Get back inside you stupid drunk!"
She forced the man back in.
