Chapter 11: Attacking Hydra

1 Year Later...

During the next year, Strange began his training with all of the other students under the watchful eye of Y/N but struggled initially, finding himself disappointingly unable to create a portal using the Sling Ring which the other trainees appeared to have no issue doing. Becoming more frustrated as he continued to fail, Strange told Y/N that he believed that the shaking in his hands was the cause. Not accepting this excuse, Y/N invited Master Hamir to demonstrate his own skill. Revealing that Hamir was missing a hand but was still able to use his power regardless, Y/N made it clear that Strange could do the same thing if given more practice and confidence in his abilities as a sorcerer. Deciding that Strange needed more pressure to improve his skills, Y/N created his own portal and then took Strange to the top of Mount Everest where Strange was bewildered by his surroundings. Wearing only thin clothing, Y/N told Strange that the only way he would be able to return to Kamar-Taj before he froze to death was to successfully use his Sling Ring, before he left him behind, much to Strange's horror. Despite still struggling at first and succumbing to the turbulent weather, Strange was able to concentrate hard enough to successfully create a portal and landed back at Kamar-Taj, and mastering this new technique, much to Y/N's and Wong's amusement as he fell onto his face before them.

During this time, Y/N was informed by J.A.R.V.I.S. that the team was assembling to help Black Widow in Sudan. Y/N joined them as Captain America led the team into the battle, where they encountered many HYDRA operatives in Chitauri armor. Together the team defeated the soldiers, along with their leader, Doctor Jensen. Using the intelligence provided by Phil Coulson, the Avengers organized a surprise attack on the HYDRA Research Base, however, HYDRA was alerted of their presence.

Announcer: Report to your stations immediately. This is not a drill. We are under attack. We are under attack.

Wanda and Pietro hold each other's hand. The Avengers make their way through the woods and fighting soldiers. Tony is flying up to the base in his suit, hits a forcefield.

Tony: Shit!

Steve: Language! JARVIS, what's the view from upstairs?

JARVIS: The central building is protected by some kind of energy shield. Strucker's technology is well beyond any other HYDRA base we've taken.

Thor: Loki's scepter must be here. Strucker couldn't mount this defense without it. At long last.

Natasha knocks out some soldiers.

Natasha: "At long last" is lasting a little long, boys.

Clint: Yeah. I think we lost the element of surprise.

The Cloak of Levitation flies in attack a Hydra solider as Y/N blasts him away with magic.

Y/N: We lost the element of surprise when Hulk decided to charge in.

Tony: Wait a second. No one else is going to deal with the fact that Cap just said "language?"

Steve: I know.

Steve throws his bike at some soldiers driving up in their truck.

Steve: It just slipped out.

In the Hydra base, Strucker walks with a few soldiers.

Strucker: Who gave the order to attack?

Fortress Soldier 1: Herr Strucker, it's the Avengers.

Fortress Soldier 2: They landed in the far woods, the perimeter guard panicked.

Strucker: They have to be after the scepter. Can we hold them?

Fortress Soldier 1: They're the Avengers!
