"Addy?!" I called out into the Kavanagh's house.

When I was met with silence, I entered the house anyways because being here alone was normal for me.

I had plans to lay in bed all day but my dad screamed at me, called me a lazy bitch and then dragged me out of bed so hard, my arm was definitely going to be bruised.

I headed upstairs in hopes that someone would be home but the house was empty. Deciding I wanted food, I went back downstairs to the kitchen. I riffled through the freezer and found a batch of Edel's scones.

I placed them on a pan and threw them in the oven, and took a seat on a bar stool while I waited.

When the back door opened, I turned towards it, hoping to see Adeline or Johnny but was met with Declan.

"Do you ever go home?" He sighed, dropping his hurling gear on the floor.

"Yes and when I do you miss me so much," I teased, "I'm making scones, if you want one."

"Fuck yeah, I do," He nodded, taking the seat next to me.

"How was hurling, Deccy?" I smiled.

"I fucking miss Finerty," He scoffed, "I love the sport don't get me wrong, but playing with lads who aren't nearly as good as me is shite."

"I miss when you were at Finerty," I teased, "I got your room as my own."

"What the fuck, Grace," He crinkled his nose, "Tell me you didn't sleep in my bed."

"Okay, I can tell you that I didn't," I shrugged, and then gave him a shit eating grin, "But that doesn't mean it's the truth."

"For fucks sake," He groaned.

"Oh! Deccy, tell me about your girlfriend Shannon," I elbowed him in the ribs.

"What about her?" He furrowed his brows.

"Are you trying to bang her? You know, take her for a ride," I winked.

"Can a conversation ever be normal with you?" He sighed.

"No," I grinned, "Can you just answer it? Are you in love."

"I'm not in love," He rolled his eyes, "I like the girl, a lot, but I'm not in love."

"Yet," I giggled, "This is the best news ever! Now I'm not the only one with a pathetic crush."

"Mines not pathetic," He snapped.

"Sure it isn't," I snorted, "Shannon like the river is way out of your league."

"Shut up," He scoffed, "You're just mad that Johnny doesn't like you."

"Whatever. I'm fucking around with Theo now," I snickered, "And I'm honestly enjoying it."

"Theo Hayes?" Declan's eyes widened, "Damn, good on you, Grace. He's a good lad."

"Speaking of Theo," I mumbled, "Addy isn't here and I need advice."

"Don't ask me if it's anything sexual," He pleaded, "I'd rather not vomit."

"Chill out, ya prude. I was going to say we've been hooking up and just hanging out, but I think he might like me, more than that."

"You've got Theo under your spell," He nodded, "Well shite, Grace, I don't know what to tell you. Do you like the lad?"

"I think so," I sighed, "But he's just...not Johnny."

Pathetic.

"Maybe that's what you need," Declan offered, "You've given your attention to Johnny for years, maybe you should try something else."

"Ughhhh," I groaned, "Why must men fall in love with me? And why is it never the right guy?"

"Theo's a good person," He shrugged, "I think you owe it to yourself to give it a shot. I mean, the worst that could happen is you breakup."

Maybe Declan was right.
Maybe it was time for me to move on from Johnny.

I'd spent years of my life on him with no reciprocation, and here Theo was giving it all to me.

"When did you get so smart?" I smiled, pulling Declan in for a side hug.

Declan was like a stupid, annoying brother to me, but I had to give him props, he was kind of logical.

"I've always been smart, you just haven't cared to notice."

"I'm going to Theo's," I clapped, hopping off the stool, "The scones are in the oven, Deccy! Save me one for when I come back. I'll tell you all about what happens."

I headed for the door as Declan called out, "Please don't!"

I felt kind of optimistic for once.

Because Johnny Kavanagh might be out of my head for the first time in my life.

Or at least I hoped he would.

Since he was starting to drive me crazy.
