Harply is a 7 year old girl in second grade who loves imagining creatures to cheer herself up when she's alone, her schoolmates call her weird when she talks to Garnold, her favorite and only imaginary friend who she says is very kind to her. No matter what everyone said she still cared for him She would talk to him at recess everyday, one day a teacher walked over to her, Mr Halls her math teacher, he asks her "Who are you talking to Harply?", with a questioning look on his face his hands behind his back, Harply eagerly answers "I'm talking to my best friend Garnold!", Mr Halls looked at her with a questioning expression before quietly saying "Okay.", and walking off.

When she got home that night her mother was waiting for her at the door, her mother's name is Natalie, she gave Harply a frown and sighed before speaking with a stern tone "I told you to stop making up stories, your school called, their concerned about you talking to that 'Garnold' character.". Harply looks up at her mother with a sad expression and says in a low tone "Mom I can't just leave Garnold! He's my best friend!", Natalie rolls her eyes softly and hugs Harply knowing she couldn't stay mad at Harply for loving what she does. Natalie speaks in a soft tone "try to, keep the conversation to yourself okay? I don't want you being made fun of.", she walks inside, Harply following behind her, Natalie walks to the kitchen to work on dinner and tells Harply she can go to her room until it's done.

Harply slowly walks upstairs to her room on the right of the upstairs hallway, her room has posters and her drawings on the walls, she sits down on her bed and looks to her side. "Hi Garnie, how was your rest?" She spoke to her imaginary friend, she giggled after a minute as she heard him speak even if nobody else did, she spoke again with a yawn "Speaking of rest, I think I'm going to take a nap before lunch", she lays back and covers herself looking up at the paper glow in the dark stars above her bed looking at Garnold who hugged her in her imagination, she looks at the fake shooting star, her mother had put up, she wishes to it that she could feel Garnold's hugs and hug him back. She leans her head back and her eyes flutter shut as she rests her hand off the side of the bed.

She began to dream and soon woke up in one, she looked around for a moment seeing before she jumped up on her legs yawning, she could feel the ground on her night slippers she bent down and felt the perfectly green grass looking at the flowers and edible mushrooms all around her, she had woke up in a bundle of wet colorful flowers. She picks one of the flowers smelling the beautiful scent of the orange flower she had plucked, she could hear the soft huming of a fan she looked behind her and saw Garnold, a yellow robot with brown and dark yellow spots on his metallic gold silver body a suit over a robotic body with dark yellow pads over his feet and hands a black visor over his face projecting eyes with a mouth on the lower visor also projected in a dark yellow color to match his body, his dark yellow eyes lighting up when he meets her gaze. She takes three quick steps closer and reaches out to touch him expecting to just phase through him as he disappeared as he always had being in her dream, but this time she felt his metallic body on her fingers, her expression physically lights up as she instinctively hugs him tightly her arms reaching to his waist from her height, he placed his hands gently on her back the padding over his hands giving a soft feeling over her his body warm compared to her cold body. She looks up and asks him "How... Am I here? How can I feel you now?", he looked back at her meeting her emerald green gaze and spoke in a low tone almost like a whisper from a distant memory "the star you wished on brought you here, it brought you into your imagination like you wanted Harply." His tone stayed soft when he spoke to her, his eyes looking at her with a soft gaze the star in his dark yellow pupils always seemed to calm her down. She wanted to explore so she asked Garnold if they could- or better if he wanted to, but she didn't want to ask as she averted her gaze from Garnold.
