*A supermarket off Highway 401*

On his way home, a young man forgot about the groceries he promised to bring home. Passing through Milton, he took the first exit and drove towards the nearby Longos.

Slowly crossing off items on his list, he walked through the produce section to find oranges. While picking them out, he bumped into a young lady and the apples in her hands fell to the ground. As he started picking them up, he looked up and saw a pair of eyes he could never forget.

With a mix of surprise and shock, their eyes locked yet quickly turned away. She asked how he has been all these years, he replied he's never been better. But his smile told a different story, hiding a pain that only she could decipher.

He asked if she's been staying happy, she replied with her bright eyes, yet they seemed to lose the sparkle they had all those years ago.

She glanced at his hands to find a ring, he looked at her basket to find baby formula. They walked together to the cash register, yet with different baskets and paying with separate cards.

They walked out the supermarket, looking intensely at each other, immeasurable thoughts running through their minds. Soon that plaza seemed all too familiar, not much changing since the last time they met, other than everything in between.

With a final goodbye, they walked their separate paths, both taking turns to look back at each other, and a lone tear crossing their cheeks. They knew they wouldn't be back at this supermarket ever again.
