Grim Reapers (死神, Shinigami; Yen Press Translation "Death God", "Reaper" alternatively) are supernatural beings and true gods who presides over balance. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Living in Florida for most of her childhood, ODETTE MONROÈ always knew she was different and destined for greatness. From a young age, she could see things others couldn't—flickering shadows, lingering spirits, whispers from places where there should only be silence.
Her grandmother, MANA MONROÈ, a legend in her own right, saw this gift budding within Odette and whispered tales of a lineage steeped in ancient knowledge. At just sixteen, Odette's powers began to intensify, showing signs of the reaper talent her family had long safeguarded.
Her parents, sensing the depth of her abilities, feared what might unfold without proper guidance. They booked her a one-way ticket to Japan, entrusting her to Mana's care in Kamigoe City, where the family's secrets were rooted.
Upon arriving, Odette was plunged into a world both familiar and strange. Kamigoe City was alive with energy unlike anything she'd known—an undercurrent of the supernatural thrummed through every street, shrine, and shadow.
Her days quickly filled with rigorous training at the Monroè Family Shrine, where Mana taught her the ancient arts of shadow manipulation, spirit perception, and the delicate balance between life and death. Here, Odette was to learn what it meant to be a true reaper, to act as both guardian and guide for lost souls in a realm teetering on the edge of two worlds.
But Odette's journey to mastery wouldn't be as straightforward as her grandmother intended. On her first day at Kami High, a seemingly ordinary high school with its own quirks, she met Momo Ayase—a girl with an unusual interest in the paranormal and a knack for attracting bizarre spirits. Soon after, she crossed paths with Ken Takakura, an occult fanatic, mainly a believer in aliens and UFOS.
