[Evening]
[Phone Call]

Nanami: "Hey, come over to my apartment."

Honoured One (Akira Gojo): "Yeah, sure. Nanami? Wait—"

The line went dead.

I slipped on my coat, glancing over at Teacup.

"Where are you going?" Teacup asked looking tense.

"Don’t worry, I’ll be back soon." I said.

I headed out the door, my heart racing with concern.

When I knocked on Nanami’s door, he opened it, revealing Shoko unconscious.

"What happened to her?" I asked.

"She came over panting and just collapsed." Nanami said.

I stepped inside, trying to keep my worry in check. Shoko lay sprawled on the couch, her chest rising and falling in a shallow rhythm.

“Is she breathing okay?” I asked, moving closer.

Nanami nodded, his brow furrowed. “Yeah, but she’s burning up. I think she might have pushed herself too hard again.”

I glanced at him, noting the lines of worry etched into his face. “What did she do this time?”

“Something about trying to perfect a new technique. You know how she gets,” Nanami replied, running a hand through his hair in frustration.

“Alright, let’s get her temperature checked.” I moved toward the small kitchen, searching for a thermometer. After a moment, I found one and returned to Shoko’s side.

“Shoko? Can you hear me?” I called gently, pressing the thermometer to her forehead.

There was no response, just a faint groan as she shifted in her sleep. I exchanged a worried glance with Nanami. “We might need to call for a doctor if she doesn’t wake up soon.”

“Let’s give her some time. She might just need to rest,” Nanami said, though the tension in his voice betrayed his own unease.

As the seconds ticked by, I placed a cool cloth on Shoko’s forehead, hoping to bring down her fever. I turned to Nanami, who stood near the window, looking lost in thought.

“Did she say anything before collapsing?” I asked, breaking the silence.

He shook his head. “Just that she felt off today. I didn’t think much of it until she showed up.”

I sighed, trying to suppress my growing anxiety. “Maybe she’s been overworking herself with her experiments. It wouldn’t be the first time.”

“True,” he said, finally turning to face me. “But she’s been under a lot of stress lately. We should really do something to help her.”

As Shoko took a deep breath, her eyes lit up with determination. “I’ve been working on a way to bridge the world of curse energy to the world of quirks,” she said, her voice gaining strength. “If I can figure this out, I could enhance my abilities and create a path for us to go back.”

I frowned, trying to grasp the idea. “You mean to use techniques from our world to interact with quirks? How would that even work?”

“I believe if I can find the right balance between curse energy and quirks, we could open a portal back home,” she explained. “But I need to refine my approach first.”

Nanami’s expression turned serious. “That’s ambitious, but it sounds risky. You could be opening something dangerous.”

“I know,” she replied, looking between us. “But if there’s a chance to return to our world, I have to try. I can’t abandon everything we’ve fought for.”
