On Tuesday at 7:00 a.m., Lucy was walking down the hallway of the Kill It organization's specialized laboratory. On her hands-free phone, she received a call from her brother.
Lucy: "Beelzie, did you hear?"
Beelzie: "That was the first thing I received when I opened my phone."
Lucy: "Do you think you can postpone your meeting with the guild bosses to come and give me a hand?"
Beelzie: "I'll see what I can do... although you clearly have a much bigger hand there."
Lucy walked through the door at the end of the hallway, where the genetic analysis room was. In it, the giant hand from the abandoned science museum had been moved. Lucy looked at the majestic but dark physical form that shone before her eyes.
On a long table, there was the note that Kenny and Tanya had found earlier, written by an anonymous person. Lucy read it quickly before turning to the giant hand again: "Nemesis..."
Great appears out of nowhere: "What a name for a giant hand, huh?"
Lucy: "What are you doing here? Isn't the guild president supposed to attend every meeting they have?"
Great: "Nah, I already gave up that position, I wasn't born to be at the head of a group of troglodytes, I left that position to your brother."
Lucy: "Beelzie didn't tell me anything about that."
Great: "The guild leaders cannot make their resignations public until the new president is ready to take office."
Lucy: "Do you realize you just broke that rule by telling me?
Great: "Who cares, let the guild do what they wants, I'm a free woman now!"
Lucy: "Whatever, what's your deal?"
Great: "Isn't it obvious? I want to take a look at your new friend before the guild does... just because your brother is now the one in charge doesn't mean they have my trust now."
Lucy: "You were literally the president 24 hours ago."
Great: "Exactly... You don't know because you're too young, but the guild is very spiteful." Great reached out to the large severed hand in front of her and touched the protective glass that kept her in her chamber.
Lucy: "Don't touch the protective glass! The hand in its most awake state emanates an almost inhuman amount of energy that generates a inhuman amount of friction on everything around it. The glass, despite being fragile, is the only thing that makes this place collapse."
Great: "That explains why this thing is so hot, I could boil an egg in this."
Lucy: "Glass is the only known material that has less friction in a vacuum than in air, so it's the only thing that can support the giant hand friction."
Great: "I understand, almost."
Lucy started writing on her laptop while Great took notes of what she wrote with his notebook.
Lucy looked stressed: "'Nemesis', what's that supposed to be."
Great: "Who knows, it's probably a keyword for something, who knows what, we need to investigate!" Lucy was still graduating and Great noticed that. Great was silent for a few seconds until he decided to speak: "Look, I wasn't going to tell you this because I don't want to involve third parties, but seeing the need... Maybe, we can get some information from an old friend..."
Lucy: "Really? Which one?"
...
At 1:00 pm, Lucy arrived at the deserted beaches of the Aussie town, a town 2 hours away from New Atlantis and where Lucy would be received by her interviewee.
Miss Hellhound rang the doorbell at the door of an honest man who ran a food stand on the beach.
