I still remember the first night we went out,
The night we laughed until our stomachs gave out.
Though it was clear that neither of us was all right,
Together we healed and banished the night.
You took me to a field you knew for its view,
The city lights shimmered, and the stars shone through.
We talked about everything that crossed our minds,
Till dawn found us laughing, lost in time.
Soon we started going out every day,
You showed me a spot where the whole city lay,
From high above, I felt like a queen,
As we gazed at the stars, a sight we'd grown keen.
The moon, blood-red, like that August sky,
Two years ago when we started, you and I.
We grew closer, our trust building fast,
Together, we found a place that would last.
Days turned to weeks, we knew we belonged,
Whenever we locked eyes, the connection was strong.
You took me again to that field of dreams,
Where we shared our hearts, our thoughts, and schemes.
That night you kissed me for the first time,
The world spun around, the stars seemed to chime.
As shooting stars fell, as if to cheer,
It felt like a celebration of what had just appeared.
And so, our story began anew,
With every night a dream come true.
We sang and laughed, with the breeze in our hair,
Summer nights’ whispers filling the air.
Every evening felt like a fairy tale,
You loved my poems, and I watched you inhale
Every word as you read, eyes sparkling bright,
And just being together made everything right.
I'd watch you train, chasing your grand dream,
That with each passing day, more real it would seem.
At every game, I'd catch your eye,
You'd search for me, as the moments flew by.
I made you promises I intend to keep,
No matter what happens, no matter how deep.
I loved the warmth of being close to you,
The beat of your heart, a rhythm so true.
I’ve made mistakes, more than a few,
But even if the distance now feels cold and blue,
Know that when we are both healed and whole,
We’ll meet again, slow and controlled.
Together, we'll reach what we’ve always sought,
I’ll keep my promises, forget me not.
Under the August moon, as warm as before,
I'll love you like I did in the summer of ‘24.
