*Eric's POV*
Five days, I waited for Alan. I vowed to him that I would wait eternities for him. And I have. An entire week, followed by painful nights. To me, it seemed like an eternity.
The doctor notified me, that Alan had finally woken. Upon hearing this, relief coated my organs in the form of a wave. The nurse said that visiting times would be from 10:00 AM-8:00 PM. The time on the reception desk clock read 9:56 AM. I planned to be there at 10:00 sharp.
Lifting myself from the seat in the waiting room, I walked up to the desk. A woman with bright green shinigami eyes greeted me with a smile. "Hello sir, how many I help you?" I took another glance at the clock, then replied. "Hi, I'm here to see Alan Humphries..." She flipped through a couple pages in a binder that sat on her desk, then glanced back up. "Oh yes, Mr. Humphries. He'll be in room 205."
Another glance at the clock and eagerness pumped through my veins. "Alright, thank you." I turned to leave as soon as she finished speaking. "Not a problem, sir. Have a nice visit." I hurried to the stairwell, not even acknowledging the elevator. I needed to see Alan as soon as possible. Not to mention, my horrible fear of becoming trapped inside one of those things.
I skipped steps and almost ran down the hallway in a frantic search for his room. Finally, I had found it. Room 205. The room Alan occupied. Anticipating with dread upon what I might see, I took a shaky breath. The urge was eating me alive until I finally twisted the doorknob and stepped inside.
Alan laid in a hospital bed covered in white sheets and dressed in a blue gown. He had sleek bandages that wrapped around his torso, complimenting the porcelain complexion of his skin. His arms lay by his sides. One had a needle attached to an IV strapped to his vein. His hair lay draped over the sides of his glasses and his striking eyes were held shut. I cautiously came over to him, watching his chest rise and fall with even breaths. He looked extremely feverish, his skin moist, as if he had been sweating.
As soon as I could process what I saw, I immediately sunk to my knees. I entwined our fingers and pressed my forehead to his arm. Sobbing, I hoped my tears would wash away the pain Alan had to endure. And what he might have to, in the future. My vision blurred and again, I felt numb.
Just then, Alan's finger twitched. I froze. The tears stopped coming and I waited silently for Alan to regain consciousness. He moved his finger again and I squeezed his hand as a result. I glanced up at him, and his eyelashes began to flutter. My heart shook with excitement. Alan's eyes opened, revealing teary orbs of emerald light. It took him a moment to recognize who I was. But, when he did, tears slipped over the sides of his cheeks and he gave a toothy grin. His voice was hoarse and strained, but genuine, "Eric!" He tried to sit up, but immediately cowered in pain. He held his injury and scrunched up his features.
"Hey flower," I said in between sobs. I came up to meet him, instead. Putting a hand over his torso, I cradled his neck in my other arm. "Don't strain yourself, please..." I kissed his forehead, more tears spilled from my lids. I faced down to look into his eyes. His were gleaming with love, and mine returned the emotion. "I missed you so much..." Alan's voice cracked as he reached up to cling to my neck.
I leaned downwards so Alan could hang on. Then, wrapped my arms behind his shoulders. He cuddled into the crook of my neck, and I felt his tears slide down my collarbone. Mine only came faster as I replied to him, "I missed you, too, flower. Far more than you can imagine..." Alan let go, looking up at me. He gazed into my eyes in such a loving manner, and brought his hands to my jawbones. He wiped away my coming tears with his thumbs, and brought his lips up to meet mine. I pressed mine against his and in response, he kissed me passionately. We were soon out of breath, and were both disappointed upon letting go.
