Felida pov

'I need help. A village I am staying in is being attacked, I expect the army to be very skilled. I ask that only those completely willing, and capable come to aid me in this.' The words came to my mind as we walked. Rather I walked, my ranger had become accustomed quite quickly to the advantage of flight. He landed next to me.

" What was that?"

"That my ranger, was the mother of the woods. She seems to be testing her newfound powers."

"Well, I suspect we could put off out search and help her. She seems someone we should be helping anyway."

"Can't. She's on the other side of Garthalan, and with me not being able to fly shed have come to her full power long before we got there."

"Then, beens magic won't restore your wing, how bout this. At the next Smith's I will make you another wing, with me being this small I'll be able to work the small parts."

"Don't tease ranger. I've accepted that I'm broken, please don't give me the hope of something that can't be done."

The little one was almost crying at this point, I walked to her and wrapped her in my embrace. "Little one. I make no promises but I have been thinking on it for a while now and I believe it can be done. It is something we must try, especially now that I cannot carry you." She looked up at me and I was almost pushed back by the hurt in her eyes.

"Ranger, I asked that you not give me the hope. I have accepted it, you must do so as well."

"Fine. We still need to find a town, and I still need to visit a smithy, it feels wrong without my armour on." The wings are useful, but I could do so much more as a man. Magic is not something I want to or know how to use. Felida had offered to teach me but I turned her down, I took some of the corrupted dust from her wing and sprinkled it on my sword, she said only a poke could kill anyone with how much I used. She still had hers so I had been practicing with her. She was actually quite good.

We now walked down the side of a path heading towards west quake, a town that had the supplies I figured I might need. A rustle in the brush stopped Felida and had her on edge.

" What's wrong little one? It's just a rodent I'm sure."

"We're fairies ranger. Anything bigger you must assume has a taste for us." I watched the brush now expecting somthing to come for an attack, I drew my sword. And flew a couple feet up.

"I had forgotten about that to be honest little one."

The bushes parted to reaveal a beatle. I lowered to the ground and sheathed my sword.

"I wonder if we'll get lucky enough to only see Beatles the whole way?"

"I dunno ranger that could be bad too."

"Why is that?"

"Because that would also mean that all the other animals are dead."

At that moment the brush burst open to reaveal a rabbit barelling towards us. Much more scary from down here.

Felida pulled me into a run. "Take flight ranger, it is too fast to outrun."

"Don't worry about me! Go!" She pushed me to side giving me room to take off, her own legs carried her faster.

I was in the air in seconds and out of reach of my new enemy. But it was gaining on Felida. A hole just ahead of her looked to provide adequate cover from the predator, I dove towards her and tackled her into the hole with me. When I looked back the rabbit was ferociously tunneling towards us. I pushed her farther in.

"You idiot! Now we are both dead!" As we made our way further in I prayed the snake who's home he had pushed us into was out hunting. Not that it would make much a difference, we were trapped as the rabbit tunneled toward us. The hole would either end soon or we would run into the snake, both meant our death.

"Well at least you won't die alone little one. Also too, did you really expect Mr to fly off and watch you get eaten?" He pushed me further down away from the rabbit.

"Yes ranger! I cannot really help much without my flight, or enough powers to even help! You should have left!" We came to the clearing where the snake would sleep. I brightened the light emanating from my body. Thank goodness, no snake.

"where are we?" My ranger walked to the center examining the hole.

"looks to be the home of a narrow snake. I'd be glad he wasn't home but we are to become a meal soon anyway." I sat at the farvedge awaiting death to come. If it eats me first my dust will kill it and my ranger can escape.

"What are you doing little one?"

"My dust will kill the rabbit when it eats me, then you can leave."

He laughed at me. I'm trying to save him and he laughs at me for it! So much for a serious moment. " Little one, back off from there. Our swords are coated in your dust, we will kill it and leave together." Now I see why he laughed, he already had a plan. I'm an idiot.

The rabbit finally made it to us, pulling itself into our haven and opening the path behind it. My ranger dodged a swipe from its head as I jabbed it on the leg with my own sword. The beast swayed then fell asleep on the ground.

" If you think you can make a wing, do it. I'm tired of running for my life already."
