mia and i were sitting on the edge of one of the beds, chatting and getting settled in when a loud ping echoed through the house. the unmistakable cue that we were supposed to head to the living room. we glanced at each other with a mix of curiosity and excitement, then got up and made our way over.

in the living room, we found everyone gathering on the couches, some looking relaxed, others buzzing with anticipation. jack was already sprawled out on one end of the sofa, and he turned to the group, raising an eyebrow. "so, is this where we do a challenge?" he asked, a grin spreading across his face.

tays laughed, looking just as eager. "i hope so," he said, rubbing his hands together.

i let out a groan, feeling a nervous twist in my stomach. "oh no, i feel sick," i muttered, half-joking.

america, sitting nearby, crossed her arms and rolled her eyes. "ennit, same. can't lie, i don't like it." she looked around, already bracing herself.

just then, a voice came over the speakers. it was sugarlips—her voice smooth, yet carrying a sense of authority. "housemates, welcome to the locked-in house," she said, and we all clapped, welcoming the familiar sound.

"i hope you're all nice and comfortable. thats good, enjoy it. but it might not always be that way," she added with a slight pause, as if teasing us. we all went, "ooooo," in unison.

"dun dun dun," i said under my breath, trying to lighten the mood, and tays looked at me, grinning. for some reason, my stomach did a little flip, and i didnt know why.

maybe it was the way he smiled or just the fact that the whole situation was making me nervous.

sugarlips continued, "this year is very different and could be very difficult for some of you. this is not a party house. this is locked in. however, footasylum believes that teamwork really does make the dream work."

"facts!" shelen shouted, her voice loud and enthusiastic.

"it does, it does," tays added, leaning back on the couch with a relaxed smile.

"and the team that does the best," sugarlips went on, "will live the best."

we all gasped at the change of the rules, and tays looked around at us with wide eyes. "they're gonna split us up," he muttered, almost to himself.

"so listen up," sugarlips continued, her tone more serious now. "in the red team, we have laney, tays, mia, pieface and scousemani."

"that's okay, that's fine," i said, trying to sound nonchalant, but i could feel my heart racing a bit.

"i'm the blue team, we have america," sugarlips announced.

tays immediately grumbled, "i'm not clapping for that." i rolled my eyes at him, but before i could say anything, i piped up.

"nooo, we've gotta clap them. that's hater vibes. and i don't wanna fall out with anyone," i said, my voice loud and unapologetic.

everyone agreed, and we all clapped for the blue team. "awww," everyone said, amused. "well done, housemates. , shelen, adeola, jack joseph , and michael. please make your way to the challenge area."

the room was filled with noise as everyone got up, excited and ready to go. we all screamed in excitement, rushing to the designated area for the challenge.

when we got there, we saw the setup—a simple but intense-looking game. a giant board with paddles and flashing lights, and the goal was to guess who the facts related to.

"let's go!" mia shouted, pumping her fist.

jack was the first to go up, and the fact on the board flashed. "this person doesn't flush the toilet after they've had a wee because they hate loud noises."
