Pete has always lived to make a statement, to be an example of having lived and survived the atrocities of the so-called foundation. He escaped, grew, and thrived to be a successful businessman, all on his own.

When he heard about the younger duo's escape, being “allowed” to leave just because they were useless, his heart clenched and then soothed again.

It will all be okay, he can take care of his brothers.

But Charlie, the bleeding heart and purest kindest soul among them all, wanted to do as much as he could and save every other child.

Babe had been a curveball no one had foreseen. He escaped, not only the foundation but all the people and connections that could possibly lead to the orphanage, didn't matter if it was some with or against Tony.

Pete was reluctant, he knew what kind of man Babe was, what he could be, and nine of the equation was in his favor to qualify as Charlie's lover.

Everything that was good, it was Charlie in their life at one point, even though Jeff was the youngest, he was conditioned to be mature and

Aage a lot before time thanks to his visions.

Charlie, despite the monstrosity he went through, managed to retain his unadulterated heart. He saw the world for what it was, a mix of good and bad that ultimately gave meaning to life.

When Charlie approached him regarding the plan, explaining Jeff's vision, and decoding it. Pete refused to deliberately put his precious family's life in danger.

But Charlie insisted, knowing that fate cannot be evaded. It had been proved over and over again over the course of Jeff's experience with his visions.

Charlie came up with an alternative, one that mimicked the original course of action but opened a way for another possibility.

One that wasn't supposed to end with inexplicable grief on their end. They weren't supposed to lose a family member, at least not so soon.

The race, when it happened, shattered both Pete and Jeff, it wasn't supposed to happen, was all they could think.

But it did, and all they could do was watch it happen.

Jeff called him from the hospital, a silent plea slipping through his indifferent persona, he needed to leave and he needed to do it as soon as possible.

Shifting Charlie to a secluded place was a task, he was a social creature forced to live in isolation for his whole life, and going back to it especially when he needed to recover presented itself as a challenge.

Pete, by no means, was under the reassurance that Charlie for a second, was in agreement with the terms but Jeff was his exception.

It was easy to maneuver him around as long as Jeff was around.

And so, here he is, with a glaring Jeff and a clueless Charlie staring at him, waiting for him to state the purpose of his visit.

He huffs, shoulder dropping as he focuses on the single strand of thread sticking out of the corner of the carpet.

He should maybe look up, and meet his youngest brother’s stare head-on, but the fight has left his being. Another person left hollow to survive.

Pete somehow relates to Charlie the most, Tony's existence gave a vengeance-esque meaning to his life. While Charlie lived to protect, Pete lived to prove.

The whole ordeal coming to an end had left him with nothing, an empire he built to show his strength, drowning in the seemingly bottomless sea. He knows it’s not the end of the world, not his world at least. But, what do you do when the point of your existence goes extinct without a trace?
