The day before Taehyung's discharge had finally arrived, and he couldn’t contain his excitement. After weeks of waiting and painstaking recovery, the time had come for him to leave the hospital and return to his usual life. The doctors performed the final round of X-rays and scans to check the condition of his legs before giving him the green light to go home.
As Taehyung lay on the examination table, he felt nervous, excitement bubbling within him. The doctors moved around him, checking the results, and for a brief moment, he worried if something might still be wrong. But when they looked over the images and confirmed that everything was healing perfectly, a smile spread across Taehyung's face. His legs were on the mend, the fracture nearly gone, and he was ready to walk without the crutches.
The Dr.Lee looked at him seriously, however, before giving the final recommendation. "Mr. Kim, your recovery has been impressive, but you must continue with your prescribed exercises and take your medicine as advised. No running or heavy physical activity for a while. You need to ease back into things slowly."
Taehyung nodded obediently, understanding the importance of following the doctor's instructions. "Of course, I’ll make sure to do that."
As he left Dr. Lee’s cabin, Taehyung felt a lightness in his step, his legs stronger than they had been in weeks. He couldn’t stop the small grin spreading across his face as he walked down the hallway, the sound of his footsteps echoing softly. It was a strange feeling freedom, mixed with the lingering caution that came from the doctor’s strict instructions.
His legs guided him almost instinctively to Jungkook’s cabin. It wasn’t as if he had planned it; it was more like a pull, a desire to see him and share the good news in person. Taehyung found himself standing outside Jungkook’s door, hesitating for a moment.
He raised his hand to knock, but then paused, taking a deep breath. There was something in his chest that made him want to do more than just walk in casually. He had no idea if Jungkook would even be there, but Taehyung didn’t want to miss his chance to speak to him before he left.
Finally, he knocked gently.
"Come in," came Jungkook’s familiar voice from the other side, soft and calm.
Taehyung smiled as he pushed the door open, stepping into the room with a little more confidence than he had expected. Jungkook was seated at his desk, flipping through some papers. He looked up as Taehyung entered, his expression unreadable at first.
“Hey, Dr.Jeon,” Taehyung greeted, his voice light, but with a trace of excitement.“Just wanted to let you know... I’m officially cleared. The doctors gave me the go-ahead. I’m free to walk... well, not run yet, but I’m almost there.”
Jungkook’s eyes softened with a mixture of relief and pride as he put down the papers. “That’s great news, Mr. Kim. I’m glad to hear it.”
Taehyung moved closer to the desk, his gaze lingering on Jungkook. There was a warmth in the way Jungkook smiled at him, something that made his heart race in a way he didn’t quite understand.
Taehyung’s eyes gleamed with anticipation as he leaned against the desk, his expression turning teasing. “Do you remember the date, Dr. Jeon?” he asked, his voice a little more playful than usual.
Jungkook paused, momentarily caught off guard by the question. He had almost convinced himself that Taehyung might forget about it, especially with all the focus on his recovery, physio and everything that had been happening lately. But seeing Taehyung now, so determined and excited, Jungkook realized that he hadn’t actually been prepared for the question.
He nodded slowly, a small, tentative smile tugging at his lips. “I do. I didn’t think you’d still be serious about it with everything going on, but... I guess you’ve really been looking forward to it.”
