Smiling to myself

My brother was standing at the top of the stairs when I walked in, his fishing gear in his hands and his glare fixed on my girlfriend. "What is she doing here?"

I crossed my arms over my chest, staring at this ignorant asshole, "Because she can be? Mom and dad love Natalie." And she's my girlfriend.

Natalie's eyes darted between Chip and I as we silently argued.

"Where are you even going?" I only asked because I was hoping he would be gone for a long time.

He scoffed and started down the stairs, "My buddies and I are going to Wisconsin this weekend because Jared's dad has a cabin." He smirked at me, "Have fun lezzing out with Wilson." He slammed the door behind him.

At least he might get lost in the woods. Or fall into a lake and get swept away.

"Lezzing out?" She looked at me, a slight smile on her lips, "At least he called me Wilson instead of fag." She shrugged, her grin widening.

I glared at her, sliding my hands into my pockets, "I don't know why he doesn't like you."

She raised her eyebrows as an unreadable expression took over her face, "Sarcasm, Santoro?"

I rolled my eyes, "You're so annoyi-"

"There you are!" Angie came into the foyer glaring at me as if I had done something super wrong, "I seriously have to leave like now. Henry is upstairs with a fever-"

"I thought Henry was with Gran?" I furrowed my brows, now more confused than before.

"Until he got sick? Do you never check your phone?" She sighed as if I was an idiot.

"I never do, actually." I nodded. It's a fact. I hate that device.

Angie rolled her eyes then smiled at Nat, "Lovely to see you, Natalie. I hate dumping our little brother on you but I have a date." She wiggled her brows.

"With who?" She smiled and raised my eyebrows knowingly. We both knew.

She looked at the ground as a high blush spread across her cheeks, "Tucker Wyatt."

Nat rubbed her back assuringly, "No worries, Angie. Need a ride or anything?"

Someone honked outside. She looked up at Nat, "Thank you but that is probably Tucker now."

Tucker is old enough to drive?

"Have fun, I guess." I watched her sister leave the house, contemplating the decision to let her go. Shaking it off, I turned to face Natalie, "This ruins our plans."

She shrugged, "I am gonna set my bag down and check on your brother."

"You don't have to-"

She just looked down at me, "You wanna order some pizza for us?"

I jutted my lip out as I pouted, "This is not how I wanted this to go."

"Well it's how it's going!" She disappeared around the corner, knowing where my brothers room was.

I sighed and pulled up the Marco's app, craving their cookies and not really their pizza.

After I put the order in, I sat at the table and stared at my phone screen. It was a picture of Natalie and I at the park. Sydney took it because Natalie was testing the huge tire swing to see if it could hold two people.

I stared at her smile. My smile. Our faces are just inches apart. This was before I was even sure she liked me in the same way.

And Sydney, our wingwoman, knew to capture it. And I love her for it.
