You are the desire of my heart.
I want to keep looking at you, keep touching you.I opened my eyes slowly, feeling a sharp, dull ache on the right side of my head. Blinking against the morning light, I slowly sat up, taking in the familiar surroundings of my own room.
With a sigh, I slid out of bed, moving through my morning routine. As I leaned closer to the mirror, a sense of relief washed over me. The bruise was barely visible-thank goodness.
If it had been obvious, Mom and Bobby would never have stopped their questioning. I stepped onto the balcony, letting the crisp, cool air greet me. Monsoon season was coming, my favorite time of year.
And then I saw him.
My breath caught as he waved from a distance. He was there, waiting for me, like he had been all night. I sighed, not sure if I was ready to deal with him just yet, so I turned and went back inside, letting the music drown out my swirling thoughts.
I headed downstairs to join Mom and Bobby for breakfast. They were already at the table, and I took it upon myself to serve the food, carefully making my plate for the meal.
"Mom, I think I'll eat in my room, on the balcony," I told her as I poured myself a cup of tea, hoping she wouldn't ask why.
Returning to my room, I was caught off guard-he was sprawled on my bed, sleeping on his stomach, completely oblivious to everything around him. Of course he was exhausted.
"Janab jo puri raat soye nahi." I mumbled under my breath, rolling my eyes. (Sir, who didn't sleep the whole night.)
It was so typical-he'd mess things up, play the part of the thoughtful, sleepless lover, and expect me to forget everything. Not this time. I ignored him and walked to the balcony with my tea, savoring the cold air and determined to keep my cool.
Just as I started to relax, I felt him behind me. I gasped as he lifted me from behind, carrying me to the chair, where he sat and settled me onto his lap. He wrapped a warm blanket around us to shield us from the morning chill.
