WARNING:
THIS NOTE CONTAINS EXPLICIT SPOILERS ABOUT OUTER BANKS S4'S FINALE. READ AT YOUR OWN RISK.
Hello, everyone!
Yesterday, I shared a message on my feed. Still, I wanted to write and post a little note here for those of you reading this story that are not following me.
After the events of the Season 4 finale... I've decided I will not be writing Season 5 of Outer Banks. I will finish writing S4, but only out of respect for every single one of you readers, and the respect for the character I created myself, that I love deeply.
I won't sugarcoat this. I'm angry, and dissapointed. Not just because my favorite character was killed off. I'm not a kid, I can deal with death even in fiction. But because of the way and the reasons that got the character to this point in his storyline.
I have completely lost the will, the spark, the energy and the want to write another season of this. I do have a finale in mind for Brizo, and I am very excited for that, because I think you will like it and I hope it will serve as a safe space for those of you that come to fanfictions as a way to escape reality and free your minds from the burdens of life.
Having said this, I would like to clarify something, and it may be a little spoiler to my own story, but I don't care:
I will not be killing JJ off, and I will not kill off Brizo either.
As a literature student, I've been taught - and I've learned - that killing a character is a waste of time and resources unless it is strictly necessary for the plot. I do not believe in killing off a character just for shock value.
If you want to get a reaction out of the audience, write something good in the first place. If you need to kill off beloved characters for your story to have emotional value... That's cheap writing.
And regarding to the rumours and theories online... I must say I believe them all. I was there in April 2020 when this show was first released. I was there during the first promo tour and I've seen the evolution of everything. Pankow and Bailey can say whatever they want. They're at fault at this. As well as the Pates. How awful is your set that an actor feels obligated to leave your show? And I'll keep my mouth shut about the writing but... I just know they were writing those scripts thinking of the paychecks and not the actual story.
One of the things that infuriates me the most is how both actors have tried to pin this drama on the fans. Darling, how is it the fans' fault that you had to use stunt doubles to film cuddling scenes? It is not the audience's fault whatever happened behind the scenes. And it surely is not their fault that you can't be professionals.
I have nothing but respect towards Chase Stokes and Madelyn Cline, who have filmed two seasons pretending to be in love, married and pregnant with their first child, when their relationship in real life has been over for over two or three years already.
I cannot even imagine how disrespected they've must have felt having to walk on that set and see their colleagues not being able to even film a 30 second scene of them cuddling. It is just straight up ridiculous.
Well, I just wanted to come here and say that Brizo and JJ were gonna be safe and it turned into a hate piece. I will not be apologizing for that, whatsoever.
I love Brizo with all my heart. I love that character so much... But I'll admit I'm excited to end this story and give her a happy ending - one that she deserves.
And as for the future... I have some projects in the works. There's one specific story, a Steve Harrington fanfiction, that I'm very, very excited to share eventually. I don't know how long it'll take me to finish it and have it ready, but I hope it'll be soon.
If you loved Brizo, I think you'll fall in love equally with Kimberly. I can't wait for you all to meet her.
That's all for now.
I'll wrap this up by saying everything you're feeling right now is valid. There's a thing called "suspension of disbelief." As an audience, you had a pact with the creators and writers of that show. That pact was inmediately broken the moment they decided to kill JJ. For so many reasons that I do not feel like writing right now, although I could write a thesis about it.
You are allowed to mourn, to be mad, to feel betrayed. Your feelings are valid, doesn't matter what it is you're feeling. You're allowed to complain and to riot if you want to. That is actually what S1 JJ would've wanted actually.
Thank you all so much for reading.
I'll see you guys on the next chapter.
