"Don't worry, Abir," Aadya whispered, her voice tight and barely controlled. "Mujhe chhod ke jaane ki aadat nahi hai... I'll just go and bring a mask."

As soon as those words escaped her lips, she stepped out, holding back the tears that were already pricking her eyes. Each step felt heavier as she walked down the quiet hallway, her heart pounding louder with each one.

She bit her lip hard, fighting to keep it together until she reached the washroom.

Inside, she leaned back against the door, finally letting her tears fall as her legs gave way.

She wanted to scream, to let all of it out, but only silence greeted her as she slid to the floor.

She knew she should walk away, should let go... but every step felt like leaving a piece of her heart behind, still hoping he'd come after her.

Standing up slowly, she walked over to the large mirror, staring back at her own tear-streaked reflection. The girl looking back at her seemed so small, so broken.

"Maybe... if I were a bit prettier," she whispered, reaching up to touch her cheek. "He would've looked at me the way I look at him."

(An: I am alreday relating to her😛)
