Week 7 Tuesday
Layla's POV
It's all rather hard and quite confusing. It's just... none of this is my personality or me. At first I was happy Aina was just helping me out but all of this is just.... I'm not like Aina and how she is. She's not like I thought she was. I'm not like Amber, or Delilah, or Glitter. I don't know how long I can keep this charade going. I feel like they all know deep down. Even if I do leave them, I will have no one to go to. Not a lot of students like me. But I have popularity, sort of. At recess I don't want my 'friends' to find me. I don't loiter in the hallway like everyone else. I go upstairs and go to the stairs of the third level, where no cat or dog can cross. The Guinea pig and bird area. I sit down on the stair. No one comes near here at recess. But of course I was wrong. Delilah found me. "Hi Layla." She greets me. "Hi." I say back. She sits down next to me. "You're going to ask me why I'm here. I know, go on." I say. "No, I know why you're here." I look at her surprised. How does she know? "You're not like us deep down. You don't want to do this. So you came here in hopes of avoiding us. Right?" She says. "Right." I repeat. Delilah doesn't sound mad, calm. "You see Layla, I understand. Forced into it all must be hard. Especially when you're not like this." She said. Its as Delilah knew everything in my head. She understood me, really though. "You're going to tell Aina, Amber and Glitter, aren't you? Or use something against me." I blurt out loud. Delilah jerks a little. "Of course not! Why would I do that?" She asks. Because you're Delilah? I know what she's like. She's not doing this to be nice, she's going to do something to me I just know it. "Fine. Don't trust me then. You don't have to." She sighs. She's about to go when I stop her. "Wait. Don't go." I say. She sits back down. She looks at me. I look at her. "What are you trying to say then?" I ask her. She smiles, a friendly one, not a smirk or an evil smile. "I want to be your friend." She says. She sounds genuine, but is she? "You're not lying?" She shakes her head. "No. Not at all." I'm just not sure if I trust Delilah or not. May as well give her a chance - I'll just have to be careful. "So.... Friends?" She asks. "Sure." I said. Delilah and I chat till the end of recess. We even have next class together. The bell rings. "I need to get my stuff for French." She says. She checks the time. "Oh I'm so sorry Layla! I need to do something real quick, would you please get my stuff?" She handed me her key. Wow she really trusts me. "Sure." I say. I walk down to the ground floor and find her locker. I open it up. A big A3 piece of paper falls on me. "Layla, where were you?" Amber scares me. She's looking over my shoulder. "What's this?" She asks. She snatches it and looks at it. I look at it with her. At the top it's written down - The Big Plan. Some of the lines say: 'Get Layla to trust me.' 'Use Layla as a sidekick.' 'Manipulate Aina and Glitter.' 'Get rid of Amber'. "I knew she was up to something." Amber frowned. She takes the sheet and I grab Delilah's things. "A popularity plan. Of course. She wants to be queen bee and run the school. Should've seen it coming." Amber hissed as we walked. "She's already popular. What more does she want?!" Amber was filled with fury. It was clear Amber did not like Delilah. Her plan was already working. Well sort of - not really. I don't fully trust her. Glad I found this plan sooner than later. "Well we'll have to sort this out at lunch." She says finally. "See you later." I say. "Bye." She says back and we go our separate ways. I head upstairs to French class. I walk in, Delilah's there. I give Delilah, her stuff and I sit down in my assigned seat. Delilah's behind me. She starts passing notes to me. I write short responses back each time. "Delalee stop passing notes in my class, must I say it to you in French? Arrête de distribuer des post-it dans ma classe." The teacher says. "It's Delilah. Not Delalee." The teacher rolls her eyes at Delilah. "All of your names. So confusing!" Sometimes I think the teacher is sometimes over dramatic. At the end of class my heart is thumping hard and loud in my chest. Was I meant to find the plan? Delilah will surely get mad for getting it into Amber's hands. Or will she? I don't know what Amber's going to do at lunch or if Aina and Glitter even know what's going on. We're walking back and Delilah can't stop smiling in a friendly way. She should've been more careful with her stuff. We make it to the cafeteria. Amber is glaring at Delilah. "Why is she glaring at me?" She whispers to me, I shrug. Once we get our food we sit down at our table with our dogs. amber is evil smiling. She looks impressed with herself. "Hey Delilah." Amber greets her as she taps her fork on the table slowly. "Hi?" Delilah says back. "So.... I didn't know you were so good at drawing up plans." She says causally. "Umm what do you mean by that?" She asks. "Oh I'm sure you know what I mean." Amber says. Delilah laughs nervously. "I do not. Really don't. Care to explain?" "So you know how you gave Layla a key to your locker to get your stuff? Well your Big Plan paper fell out."  Amber smirked. Delilah looked at her weirdly. "Huh? Big Plan paper what now?" She asked her. "Don't play dumb with me." She said sternly. "Hang on, what's going on here?" Aina asked. "Well Delilah's made up a plan sheet to be queen bee the school. She needs Layla to trust her and use her to be her sidekick in the process. She wants to manipulate Aina and Glitter and take me down." Amber said it all. "Let me see!" Glitter demanded. Amber gave Glitter the paper. "How do you know it's Delilah's?" Glitter asked. "I already said! It fell out of her locker!" Glitter looked at in disbelief. "Well it's not mine. Did anyone else see it apparently fall out of my locker?" Delilah asked her. "Yeah. Layla. The one you trusted with your key." Amber looked at me to back her up. I didn't want to get into drama. Delilah then looked at me. "It did fall out of your locker when I opened it." I told the truth and that's all I plan to say. Amber smirked at Delilah as if she'd won and figured her out. "I was framed then. Why were you even around my locker at the time? If I didn't want anyone to find it wouldn't I put it in a safer place? What if you planted it in my locker - made it easy to fall out and made sure to be around my locker to get me into this!" Delilah was now accusing Amber. "No I didn't! It's yours!" Delilah shook her head. "Delilah's right. Maybe just leave the whole thing alone?" Glitter said. Amber glared at Glitter. "Seriously, Glitter?" Aina agreed with Delilah and Glitter as well. "You all are really that stupid? She's going to manipulate you all! Hang on, she already has! Layla and Delilah were together at recess! She probably now trusts her and isn't backing me up because now she's a sidekick to her! Delilah's already manipulated Aina and Glitter and you're slowly taking me down. Wow you think you're so smart. But I figured it all out." Amber said frustrated. Was Delilah lying? Or was Amber lying? A kitten named Poppy walked past our table laughing her head off. "What are you laughing at?!" Demanded Amber. "I did it! I pranked you all! I put the paper in Delilah's locker HAHAHAHAHAHHAHA!" what a little- never mind. "I think Poppy manipulated you, Amber." Delilah said. We all burst out into laughter and forgot about the whole thing. My friends are fun when they're not mean.
